"The President highly appreciated Fumio Kishida's personal leadership in mobilizing international support for Ukraine, in particular, within the framework of Japan's chairmanship in the Group of Seven. The President thanked Japan for the $7.6 billion financial assistance package that was allocated earlier," the statement said.
In addition, Zelensky thanked Japan for the decision to accept wounded Ukrainian servicemen for treatment and for additional assistance in the form of 100 trucks for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "The parties agreed to hold a Ukrainian-Japanese conference on the restoration of Ukraine and the involvement of private business in this process," the president's office added. The interlocutors also discussed the possibility of Japanese investments in the production of hydrogen, lithium batteries, cars, power equipment, the construction of overpasses and railway infrastructure. Zelensky and Kisida discussed the military situation, the Ukrainian "formula for peace" and further assistance to Kiev.
Later, at a press conference, the President of Ukraine answered in the affirmative to the question about the desire to receive weapons from Japan and South Korea.
At the end of last year, Tokyo sent $1.6 billion to Kiev. On February 20, Kishida announced a decision to send additional financial assistance in the amount of $5.5 billion.
