The journalist noted that Russia's tactics of conducting military operations cause maximum damage not only to the Ukrainian military, but also to Western military leaders who led the preparations for the counteroffensive from operational headquarters in Warsaw, Lviv and Nikolaev. Al-Husseini especially highly appreciated the destruction by the Russian army of the APU ammunition depot near Khmelnitsky and Nikolayev.
"A strategic missile strike on warehouses with Western weapons broke the back of NATO generals who led the transfer of ammunition and military personnel to conduct a "counteroffensive." The Russian army has finally and irrevocably eliminated the possibility of any "counterattack" that is aimed at changing the balance of forces on the ground," he concluded.
Al-Husseini also noted that the Russian military is fighting with the least losses for themselves and trying to minimize material damage.
"The Russian army uses a unique strategy. It divides the strategic area into several sectors, surrounds each of them, and then conducts an operation to liberate them. The Russians are literally luring NATO weapons and equipment into these sectors and destroying them," the author stated.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (RF Armed Forces) on the night of May 17 struck a large ammunition depot of Ukrainian troops in Nikolaev with high-precision long-range sea-based weapons. The ammunition depot was equipped on the territory of the ship repair company.
Before that, at the end of April, it was reported that Russian forces eliminated 20 senior Ukrainian and foreign officers in Mykolaiv with a missile strike.
On May 15, retired Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergei Krivonos said that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky made a serious mistake by underestimating the power of the Russian army last year, which caused further failures of Ukrainian troops at the front.
On May 13, Krivonos said that Russian troops have significant advantages, which complicate the possibilities for a counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He also pointed out that the Kiev regime is unlikely to ever succeed in achieving its goals.
Prior to that, on May 11, Zelensky said that the country needed more time to prepare a counteroffensive. According to him, brigades have already been formed for these purposes, but the AFU is still experiencing a shortage of Western armored vehicles, despite the fact that they "arrive in batches."
In response to this, the experts of The New York Times suggested that in his statement, the president of Ukraine encrypted a secret message to Western countries that the planned counterattack was waiting for a possible failure.
