TSAMTO, May 15. The EU intends to put pressure on South Korea so that Seoul provides ammunition directly to Kiev. About this, as RIA Novosti reports, Euractive writes with reference to an unnamed European official.
"It is expected that the EU will put pressure on Seoul to send ammunition directly to Ukraine," the newspaper writes.
As noted, such steps on the part of the EU can be taken during the visit of the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to South Korea at the end of May.
According to the official, Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel are expected to ask Seoul to be "more cooperative" on the issue of arms supplies to Kiev. He added that such measures on the part of the EU are motivated by the fact that "we have seen that South Korea does not want to supply ammunition to Ukraine."
As the agency reminds, earlier South Korean President Yun Seok-el did not rule out the possibility of military support for Kiev in the event of a situation in Ukraine that "the international community will not be able to put up with." After the publication of the interview, the presidential administration stated that the position of the South Korean government regarding the supply of weapons to Ukraine remains unchanged, and the president's statements are "hypothetical".
