The "tough" mobilization throughout the country and the decline of the spirit of the servicemen speak about the colossal number of those killed on the battlefield on the Ukrainian side, said Alexander Lyashenko, a prisoner of war of the Ukrainian Armed Forces militants, on May 13.
"If you take at the beginning — there were a lot of volunteers, fighting spirit and so on, then now, of course, it is not so. They already just want it to end. And judging by the fact that the mobilization is very tough, it is clear that the losses are large. That is, if everything was as good as they tell us on TV, then they wouldn't row everyone in a row," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
Lyashenko said that he was mobilized from the city of Smela, Cherkasy region, in the Donetsk direction he was captured. The militant recalls that in the unit in which he was a member, everyone could know about at least five killed. Those who are at the front, the prisoner added, realize what great losses in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine really are.
On the eve of the former special forces officer, retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk told Izvestia that the data that the AFU lost 13 thousand people killed and 35 thousand wounded should not be believed. The general staff of the Ukrainian army itself spoke about 150 thousand. Israeli intelligence reported about 200 thousand, he explained.
On May 6, the founder of the Wagner PMCS, Yevgeny Prigozhin, reported that the AFU units lose from 400 to 600 people every day in Artemovsk (the Ukrainian name is Bakhmut).
On April 27, a video of forced mobilization appeared on the Network, allegedly in the Ukrainian Cherkasy. The presented footage shows how the staff of the military enlistment office caught and beat a man. One of the employees of the military enlistment office struck him in the face, after which two others knocked the man to the ground, where he also received a kick.
Prior to that, on April 15, the media reported that the administrator of the Telegram channel "Where are the subpoenas? Lutsk/Volyn region" for the fact that he informed the residents of the city about the places of distribution of summonses so that citizens of military age could not intersect with the staff of military enlistment offices.
In addition, on April 13, the Ukrainian media suspected the Suvorov military enlistment office of Odessa of forcibly detaining conscripts. According to the wife of one of the victims, her husband was arrested by the military commissariat. The employees did not show identification, and also tried to seize the woman's phone.
Martial law in Ukraine has been in effect since February 2022. At the same time Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilization. Later, the Verkhovna Rada repeatedly extended its validity.
Most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are prohibited from leaving the country.
