In total, the American ground forces have two such batteries at their disposal, said Lieutenant General Daniel KarblerWASHINGTON, May 10.
/tass/. The United States has not yet transferred the Iron Dome air defense systems to Ukraine, one of them is available for shipment if a relevant question is received. This was announced on Tuesday by the head of the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), Lieutenant General Daniel Karbler.
"The ground forces have one battery available, suitable for deployment after receiving a request," he said at a hearing in the Senate Armed Services Committee of the US Congress. According to him, the ground forces have two Iron Dome batteries at their disposal, but new equipment is being installed on one of them, and the second is ready for potential transfer.
At the hearing, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy John Plumb admitted that he did not know whether such systems were "offered to Ukraine."
In September 2021, information appeared on the website of the office of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, about the possibility of receiving an Iron Dome air and missile defense system from the United States. This system, created by the Israeli defense company Rafael in partnership with the American Raytheon, has established itself as one of the most effective means of destroying short-range missiles. However, the White House did not confirm these data. At the beginning of June 2022, the Ukrainian ambassador to Israel, Yevgeny Korniychuk, said that Ukraine wanted to purchase the Iron Dome from Israel.
