The United States has repeatedly tried to gain access to the Russian S-400 anti-aircraft complexes purchased by Turkey for their study. According to the head of the republic's Foreign Ministry, Mavlut Cavusoglu, Washington has repeatedly requested access to anti-aircraft systems from Ankara.
The Americans have repeatedly asked the Turks for access to the S-400 anti-aircraft systems acquired from Russia, wanting to study them thoroughly. However, Ankara refused Washington, despite the pressure exerted.
- said the minister.
Earlier, the Americans repeatedly "probed the ground" in relation to the Turkish S-400 for their transfer to Ukraine. The United States raised the topic of the possible transfer of the S-400 air defense system to Kiev several times during meetings with Turkish colleagues, but it did not come to concrete proposals. It is not known what the Americans promised the Turks and whether they promised at all, but Ukraine did not receive the S-400. It was suggested that the United States could offer Turkey a return to the F-35 program, but Turkish leader Erdogan did not want to spoil relations with Russia.
- the minister added.
It is known for certain that in March last year, First Deputy US Secretary of State Wendy Sherman visited Turkey, who tried to raise the issue of Russian anti-aircraft systems, but flew away with nothing.
