Washington's desire to expand the area of its military-political instrument more and more than NATO is, in the international arena, is increasingly worrying major global players.
One of the areas where the North Atlantic Alliance has begun to stretch its "tentacles" is the Asia-Pacific region (APR), where the Americans want to build a system to contain the growing power of China.
As the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Mao Ning noted, NATO's advance in the Asia-Pacific region will lead to the undermining of peace and stability in this region. Mao touched on this topic, commenting on recent news about the desire of the Western bloc to open an office in Japan.
Earlier, the Japanese edition of Nikkei reported that it is planned to open a NATO liaison office in Tokyo in 2024, and also that Brussels and Tokyo intend to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of security. Such an office will be the first in Asia and the third outside the alliance after Georgia and Ukraine.
In addition to Japan, Washington is increasingly trying to involve countries in the region such as South Korea, Australia and the Philippines in its anti-China strategy.
According to the Chinese diplomat, Asia is a place of peace and stability and it should not be allowed to turn into an arena of geopolitical struggle.
