Rocket launch The Swedish Space Center launched an experimental rocket from the Esrange cosmodrome.
The purpose of the launch was to study microgravity on board. The launch was successful, the rocket reached an estimated altitude of 250 kilometers. The second stage of the flight was to be her return to the starting point. But something went wrong and the rocket landed in a completely different place – namely, in a neighboring country.
Simply put, the rocket fell in Norway! This event caused a real uproar, although peace and good-neighborly relations have long been established between these two Scandinavian countries. The rocket deviated 40 kilometers to the northwest of the estimated landing trajectory and fell in the northern region of Norway called Malselv. The Swedish Scientific Center contacted the authorities on both sides of the border and its appeal was heard. The Norwegian authorities provided the necessary support to the space center, but pointed out that Sweden had not received official notifications about the possibility of a Swedish rocket falling on their territory. The Swedes agreed with their neighbors on the departure of a helicopter, on which the fragments of the rocket and its payload were taken to Esrange for study.
