It became known about the initiative of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party in Japan to supply weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.

According to the Yomiuri edition, deputies from the LDP party in the Japanese parliament propose to provide Ukraine with missile weapons, as well as air defense systems. At the moment, this is not possible, since Japanese laws do not provide for the possibility of supplying weapons to third countries. Accordingly, the LDP is going to change the basic law of the country, which would eventually imply the possibility of transferring weapons to foreign countries.

To change the legislation, the ruling Japanese party has involved the Komeito party in the negotiations. Formally, this political force has centrist views, but it is part of a coalition with the LDP, and therefore can agree to a change in legislation. After that, Japan plans to start supplying Ukraine with missiles and anti-aircraft missile systems. In particular, the possibility of supplying MLRS (multiple launch rocket systems) in the interests of the AFU is being considered.

But we are going to change the legislation not only because of Ukraine. The Japanese authorities want to remove the barrier to the sale of ships to "partners in Southeast Asia."

Experts in Japan itself believe that in the near future the country's legislation in this context may be changed, and Japan will turn into a major exporter of weapons and ammunition.
