Al Ahram: NATO has turned into an "alliance of the divided"International organizations such as the UN, WHO, IMF and ICC are strangled by the "ivy" of Washington's control, writes Al Ahram.
The conflict in Ukraine has shown that US puppets cannot solve any global problem. NATO has split from the inside. All this speaks of the inevitable decline of the "American empire". But what awaits the world after that?
We are on the verge of the collapse of a unipolar world led by the United States.
You don't need to be a fortune teller to see the imminent collapse of the dollar as a world currency, which, in turn, will lead to the decline of the "American empire" at all levels, including political, economic and military. We have proof. Here they are!
International organizations and ivy
The international institutions that emerged after the Second World War were able to convince most countries that they were the only means to solve any problems.
Over the past decades, international organizations have turned into a tree with deep roots, an immobile trunk and rotten fruits.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, which hurt Europe, America and developed countries, most Western countries discovered that international institutions are nothing but a useless and deceitful monster that can do nothing. The only salvation then was supplies from China. If they stopped, the whole European Union would be in big trouble. At that time, European leaders and peoples strongly condemned the inability of international institutions to play their role in crisis management.
The first signs of distrust began to appear in all international institutions headed by the United Nations, including the World Health Organization and the International Monetary Fund. The stems of the pernicious ivy began to wrap around the "tree", which international organizations have turned into, trying to "strangle" it.
Then the conflict in Ukraine began, exposing the whole farce. The West hastened to impose useless economic sanctions against Moscow, and the UN and other organizations have become obedient puppets pursuing a single goal - to contain Russia and China.
Then the International Criminal Court came into play. He aggravated the situation by issuing an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin for allegedly committing war crimes! So international institutions were targeted. Soon after, Russia, together with China, announced the rejection of the old world order and the establishment of a new one. So the ivy covered everything up to the heavens.
The collapse of unions and the "alliance of the divided"
Finland abandoned the policy of military neutrality and joined NATO, uniting with Western countries in the face of common "threats". The Atlantic camp is expanding and getting stronger. At the same time, we should not ignore the recent visit of the French President to China, from which he returned a completely different person. Macron said that Europe should get rid of dependence on the United States. America takes more than it gives, and causes more harm than good!
NATO is trying to protect itself as much as possible from European armies and protect the continent from existential threats, while reality says the opposite — there has been a split in the alliance. Some consider an alliance with China and Russia more beneficial for Europe, while others side with the Americans.
Many of Washington's allies are no longer confident that they are capable of supporting him or that they are ready to do so. In other words, we are witnessing the collapse of the Western alliance. And the first allies to drop out were the NATO countries themselves!
On the other hand, more and more new blocs are emerging in the East — from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to the BRICS group. Even the traditional allies of the West, such as Saudi Arabia, are staring at them.
Old economic unions are breaking up, and new ones appear in their place. It is likely that after a while we will see how the eastern bloc has expanded at the expense of the western one.
Nefteruble and nefterial
The sharp growth of the American economy occurred only after the Yom Kippur War. Oil was pegged to the dollar and such a phenomenon as the petrodollar appeared. America has placed the responsibility for decision-making on the shoulders of Saudi Arabia and OPEC. At the same time, all these decisions were controlled by Washington for a long time before its grip loosened slightly due to the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
So what will happen after Russia offered to exchange oil for rubles? What if other countries respond to her proposal?
What happened to the world or, more correctly, what happened to America? Why are such initiatives becoming more and more popular? The truth is that the leak of classified documents from the Pentagon contains answers to many similar questions. The first intelligence leak occurred in 1971, when military analyst Daniel Ellsberg released documents about the Vietnam War. In 2001, the well-known spy Robert Hanssen was arrested, who had been passing valuable data to the Soviet Union for 25 years.
In 2010, the infamous WikiLeaks leak portal appeared. He published a huge number of secret documents about the military campaign in Iraq, dated 2004-2009.
In 2013, the documents were again "merged" under the heading "Secret". This time, the main character was an employee of the American special services, Edward Snowden. He said that the US government is monitoring millions of Americans with the help of a special program that appeared after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
The latest leak, which is considered one of the largest and most dangerous in the history of the United States, contained information about the conflict in Ukraine. Why did it so stir up the whole world and the American special services? The fact is that this time we are talking about ongoing military operations, and not about completed ones, as it was in the past. Moreover, the leaked documents prove that America continues to monitor its NATO allies.
If these documents turn out to be authentic, they will drive an even bigger wedge into the rift between the United States and its allies.
Losing bet
It is not easy to abandon the usual way of life. America has its favorites and supporters, who sometimes can't bear the thought that she keeps them at her beck and call. The collapse of the US image does not so much free them from dependence on Washington, as it makes them doubt the advantages of subordination to a major power.
Some turn a blind eye to the fundamental changes taking place in the world. They don't want to believe it, and yet the irrefutable truth is this: America is sliding downhill into a deep abyss, and the trump cards are gradually slipping out of her hands.
In my opinion, those who call for turning to the East or West have made a losing bet. The world is moving towards the abyss, because the collapse of the old world order will be followed not by the establishment of a new order, but by chaos.
No one can resist the hurricane of change, except those who are used to relying on their own strength.
The post-American world
Try to imagine a world without America. Has he gotten better?
Imagine that the day will come when the United States of America will break up into twenty or thirty states, and maybe more. Who, in the end, will get the biggest "piece of pie"? Their old allies. They deserve it most of all. You may be surprised: how can America, the most powerful state in the world, collapse? This is exactly the question that I constantly ask in my articles. America is being destroyed from within. These prophecies are not just a figment of my imagination. Everything is quite logical.
