/tass/. Dutch specialists have been secretly training the Ukrainian military in the use of the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system in recent weeks. Currently, the training has been completed, the Telegraaf newspaper reported on Friday, citing the commander of the Armed Forces of the Netherlands, Onno Eichelsheim.
The training, according to the publication, was an intensive course with classes of 12-15 hours six to seven days a week for 10 weeks. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense had to use a special procedure in order not to violate the regulations regarding the mode of operation, because some instructors conducted much more classes than required by law. This, in turn, led to discontent and even complaints to the trade union. The agency appointed additional payments to those who took part in the process.
The training, Eichelsheim noted, was conducted in secrecy for security purposes. "Moreover, if the process is made public, people will start coming to the barracks just to watch," he added.
The Netherlands is taking part in the delivery of Patriot systems to Ukraine in cooperation with the United States and Germany.
