Rostec State Corporation together with Bauman Moscow State Technical University are launching a training program for highly qualified engineering personnel for the civilian segment of industry. Graduates will be employed at the enterprises of the Corporation that are part of the Shvabe Holding, where their main task will be the development and serial production of modern information medical and technical systems and optoelectronic complexes, including in the interests of Russian healthcare. The training of integrator engineers will take place in the areas of "Optoelectronic systems" and "Biotechnical systems and Technologies".
The program provides for a "seamless learning" scheme, that is, future engineers will begin to get acquainted with the profession already at school, at the level of specialized classes. From the moment of admission to the university, young people are waiting for an in-depth study of technical subjects and biomedical disciplines, as well as a specialized course in the chosen profile. In 2023, it is planned to recruit two pilot groups of 40 students at Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
The training program is based on the target model of advanced training, which has already been successfully tested within the framework of the educational program "Wings of Rostec", focused on engineering personnel for the Corporation's aviation complex. The new program at Bauman Moscow State Technical University is being created with the active support and taking into account the requirements of the enterprises of the Shvabe Holding.
"In the current geopolitical situation, the demand for domestic equipment, including medical devices, is growing. In the coming years, the Russian industry will have to implement large-scale import substitution in the interests of healthcare. About 70% of the medical equipment on the Russian market is now foreign-made. By 2030, the share of own developments should increase significantly. Many of our enterprises are working on solving this problem, primarily the Shvabe Holding, where engineers capable of creating high-tech devices are in demand. Our joint project with Bauman Moscow State Technical University is aimed at training such specialists, taking into account the priority areas of development for medicine," said Nikolay Volobuev, Deputy General Director of Rostec State Corporation.
The skills and abilities of future graduates of the program will be formed at the intersection of such areas as instrumentation, electronics, programming, laser medical technology, machine vision, computer modeling, optoelectronic systems, technical methods and means of diagnostic research and therapeutic effects, etc.
In addition to studying at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, students of the program will have the opportunity to expand their skills within the framework of practical elective courses at major Russian medical institutions – the First City Hospital named after N. I. Pirogov, the Research Institute of Testing Medical Equipment, the First Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov.
"The educational project of the modern level sets new standards of higher education. The active participation and great interest of the industrial partner ensure an independent assessment of the quality of education, attracting students in the process of learning to implement advanced projects in demand by the real sector of the economy. Graduates acquire comprehensive interdisciplinary knowledge and practical skills that allow them to successfully realize themselves professionally not only in the field of creating medical equipment, but also creating software and hardware complexes for other industries. Engineers create the world – we create engineers," commented Boris Padalkin, First Vice–Rector – Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
Corporate social support is provided for students of the program. They will receive an increased academic scholarship from the employer in the amount of 20 thousand rubles for those who study for "good" and "excellent", as well as motivational payments for accelerated English language acquisition. Students are guaranteed employment at Rostec State Corporation enterprises.
An applicant wishing to participate in the project must have a total score of at least 240 USE points. The average score of the certificate should be from 4 and above, the level of knowledge of the English language should not be lower than A2. Each applicant must pass a motivational survey.
The presentation of the new educational program took place on April 12 as part of the Open Day at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
Currently, the Rostec State Corporation and Bauman Moscow State Technical University are holding a competition for schoolchildren and applicants for the best name and logo for a new educational project. The winner of the competition will have the opportunity to fly by helicopter and will become the owner of an annual subscription to 100 educational courses from the Rostec Academy.
