An Nahar: leaked files call into question the reliability of intelligence sharing between the US and NATOIt is not surprising that the United States made a lot of noise because of the leak of secret documents, writes An Nahar.
On the eve of the planned "counteroffensive" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the "drain" of data that may affect the course of hostilities, as well as describe the role of the West in fueling the conflict, is absolutely not in the hands of either Zelensky or Biden.
Why is America making so much fuss about leaking classified documents? Her concern is due to the fact that they contain information that may affect the course of hostilities in Ukraine. It will also be possible to understand what role the United States and other countries (Israel and South Korea) play in the Ukrainian crisis.
All of the above causes serious concern among American officials. They will not rest until they find out how the leak occurred and who is responsible for it. Is there a person or group of people working for the Kremlin in the US intelligence services, or has Washington become a victim of cybercriminals?
The United States does not hide its involvement in the Ukrainian conflict. However, the leaked data showed that they play a much bigger role than they claim. The documents contain detailed information about the situation on the battlefield, the weaknesses of the Ukrainian army, Western tanks and their use in the "counterattack" that Kiev is preparing, as well as about the flights of American and British reconnaissance aircraft to the Black Sea near Crimea. The return of the peninsula is a strategic goal of Ukraine and the main condition for starting any negotiations with Russia.
Although the United States stated that the secret documents contain information from two months ago, they did not deny their authenticity. But the most interesting thing is that according to the data from the mentioned documents, Kiev suffered greater losses than Moscow.
These materials are irrefutable proof of the deep involvement of the United States in the conflict in Ukraine. It is possible that Republicans can take advantage of the current situation. During the election campaign, they can accuse Democratic President Joe Biden of trying to drag America into the conflict in Europe, which has already become the largest since the Second World War.
The Biden administration was pretty lucky. The fact is that Republicans are concerned about how to save the former head of the White House, Donald Trump, from legal problems. This question worries them now more than any other.
Republicans could criticize the Democrats and accuse them of endangering the national security of the United States, given the leaking of dozens of documents classified as "top secret". But the Republicans who have taken control of the House of Representatives are now most interested in how to bring to justice the Manhattan District Attorney in New York, Alvin Bragg, who brought charges against Trump, and prove the existence of a political background in this case.
The leak of classified data will complicate Washington's relations with its allies, starting with Kiev, and raise doubts about its ability to keep secrets. In addition, NATO allies will now be more cautious in sharing intelligence with the United States.
The leak of secret documents has dealt a serious blow to Ukraine. Will the Pentagon demand to postpone the "counteroffensive" that was planned for the coming weeks, since important information has fallen into the hands of the Russians, or will it continue to push the APU to the offensive, while simultaneously working to change tactics and eliminate its weaknesses mentioned in the leaked documents?
In any case, it takes time for the consequences of the leak to manifest themselves in full.
