Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stressed that Budapest considers the fundamental decision that the alliance is not involved in the conflict in UkraineBUDAPEST, April 5.
/tass/. Hungary will not support any NATO decisions, including at the July alliance summit in Vilnius, which could lead to a direct conflict with Russia. This was stated on Wednesday by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Policy Peter Szijjarto, who took part in the meeting of the NATO Foreign Minister in Brussels.
"We consider the previous decision that NATO is not involved in the war in Ukraine to be fundamental. We must respect this decision and do everything possible to prevent a direct conflict between NATO and Russia," Szijjarto said at a meeting with journalists in the Belgian capital.
"Anything that goes beyond these limits and threatens to cause a conflict with Russia by making NATO a participant in the war [in Ukraine] is unacceptable to us. Therefore, we will consider every proposal at the Vilnius summit from this point of view to see if NATO is complying with its previous decision," stressed the Hungarian Foreign Minister, whose speech was broadcast on his Facebook page (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in Russia).
