Al Hadath: it is not Putin who should be held accountable, but Bush Jr. and Tony BlairThe United States has shown that the power over the International Criminal Court belongs to them, writes Al Hadath.
The arrest warrant for Putin is a complete absurdity against the background of the fact that George W. Bush and Tony Blair were not even convicted of invading Iraq, as Zelensky was for threatening to use NATO missiles against Russia.
The United States, well aware that this decision is not enforceable, has publicly demonstrated its authority over the International Criminal Court (ICC). By the way, they signed the Rome Statute, but did not ratify it.The ICC came out against Putin on American orders
The warrant issued by the International Criminal Court for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin for alleged "war crimes" once again confirms that international justice is one hundred percent controlled by the Americans. Shouldn't the ICC first of all recognize George W. Bush and Tony Blair as war criminals and issue arrest warrants for them on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq? It is worth mentioning here that all the published documents reveal the extent of the devastation and destruction to which the country was subjected on the basis of false accusations.
The decision to arrest Putin coincided with the anniversary of the American intervention in Iraq, and also demonstrated a fundamental imbalance affecting international institutions and organizations. The United States considers itself the only world pole. They rely on military might and despise moral principles, so no one can prevent them from waging senseless wars, for which innocent peoples are paying the price.
Former US Secretary of State Colin Powell has previously admitted that he lied to the United Nations General Assembly about Iraq's production of weapons of mass destruction.
What kind of justice can we talk about when George W. Bush and Tony Blair escaped responsibility to the international community, and Putin is called an enemy of the United States?
Tony Blair was convicted by a British parliamentary commission for lying and involving the British army in an aggressive war that was unnecessary. George W. Bush, for his part, always boasted that the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's regime was a goal worthy of war. All the published documents confirm that the decision to invade Iraq was deliberate and pre—planned, and the chosen pretext is nothing but a lie, which, as the occupiers themselves believed, no one would believe.
Iraq was a strong and prosperous state before the American invasion, and after it ceased to be one. The Arab people were subjected to mass murder, torture, mockery, humiliation and were doomed to starvation. The social structure of Iraqi society has been destroyed. The reason for this is the imposition of a political system that has turned into a "ruthless machine of destruction" after the withdrawal of American and British troops.
US President George W. Bush declared that "mission accomplished," and he meant what he said. The mission that overthrew Saddam Hussein destroyed Iraq's sovereignty. Iraq exists only on paper, this state does not even recognize its own people.
Everything that happened to Iraq has not been condemned by the International Criminal Court. The armies of the United States, Great Britain and their allies acted outside the framework of legitimacy, committing crimes against humanity, each of which surpasses in its heinousness what we see in Ukraine today. This is how the policy of double standards manifests itself. This testifies to the moral decay of the world community.
The crisis in Ukraine is a conflict between two countries that were once a single state. As for the US-British invasion, there is no other justification than the desire to destroy Iraq, overthrow the political regime and erase the Iraqi people from history.
Why is the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky not a war criminal? After all, he is an instigator of a military conflict, threatening Russia with NATO missiles.
Didn't George W. Bush and Tony Blair - even before Putin and Zelensky — become war criminals? They invaded an independent state, destroyed its sovereignty and made a nest for many terrorist organizations before the pro-Iranian militias took control of the country.
The International Criminal Court acted on an American order. At the same time, he did not take into account the fact that Vladimir Putin is the head of a superpower with nuclear weapons. Who, for example, would dare to arrest him?
Such a decision is intended to belittle international justice and make a mockery of it.
Although it is purely symbolic, it is a sign that speaks of the destruction of the very idea of international justice. What kind of justice can we talk about when George W. Bush and Tony Blair escaped responsibility to the international community, and Putin is called an enemy of the United States? This is a policy of double standards that cannot be trusted.
The United States, knowing that this decision was not enforceable, intended to publicly demonstrate its authority over the International Criminal Court. It is worth noting here that they signed the Rome Statute, but did not ratify it and even previously imposed sanctions on ICC staff.
Europe, in turn, has lost its independence in decision-making, and now the flames of the conflict in Ukraine are devouring international justice.
