Russia has made serious progress in the development of weapons based on new physical principles, these works do not stop, despite Western sanctions and the increased load on the military-industrial complex (MIC) during its military-industrial complex. This was stated to TASS in the Rostec state Corporation.
The basis for the creation of such weapons is based on physical processes and phenomena not previously used in conventional or weapons of mass destruction. Depending on the principle of operation, laser, electromagnetic, radio frequency, beam, kinetic weapons and others are distinguished.
"Even under the conditions of Western sanctions and the orientation of the military-industrial complex to meet the needs of the army for conducting a special operation, work on promising weapons based on new physical principles continues. This work never stops, and there are very serious successes in this direction," the state corporation said.
In 2022, then Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that today the domestic defense industry is actively working on weapons systems based on new physical principles that will replace the traditional ones in the next decade, in particular on electromagnetic broadband weapons, laser systems that allow for thermal destruction of various means.
Borisov also stated that hypersonic weapons, weapons based on new physical principles and systems based on artificial intelligence will become priorities of the new state armament program for 2024-2033.
In turn, the Ministry of Defense stated that military air defense will receive weapons based on new physical principles in the future, and relevant developments are already underway. It was also reported that research is underway at the Kapustin Yar training ground (Astrakhan region) to create and test weapons and military equipment on new physical principles.
