Seoul imposed sanctions on four individuals and six institutions of North KoreaHong Kong. March 21.
INTERFAX - The South Korean government has announced a ban on the export through third countries of dozens of materials that can be used to develop North Korean satellites, and has also imposed new sanctions, Yonhap news agency reports.
A total of 77 items used for the production of satellites were included in the "watch list". Among them are solar photocells, solar sensors of rough orientation, astroorientation systems, image data processing units, X-band transmitters.
It is noted that this measure is designed to once again draw the attention of the world community to the need to prevent the North from acquiring such strategic materials.
The South Korean Foreign Ministry said it had already shared the list with other countries so they could use it for their export controls.
In addition, Seoul imposed additional sanctions against four individuals and six institutions involved in Pyongyang's missile and nuclear programs, as well as the country's evasion of international sanctions.
In particular, Lee Yong Kil, deputy chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea, as well as Tan Wee Ben, a citizen of Singapore, accused of money laundering through the US financial system in favor of North Korea, were sanctioned.
Among the organizations blacklisted are the Central Prosecutor's Office of the DPRK and Cholsan Trading Co.
