INTERFAX - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping will sign two documents following talks in Moscow - on improving joint partnership in a new era and on developing key areas of Russian-Chinese economic cooperation until 2030.Xi Jinping will visit Russia on a state visit on March 20-22, on the first day he will hold face-to-face talks with Putin, and on March 21 - full-format talks.
"Since this is a state visit, members of the Russian and Chinese delegations will be presented to the leaders in the St. George Hall of the Kremlin, then the President of the Russian Federation and the President of the People's Republic of China will move to the negotiating hall. Initially, the negotiations will be held in a narrow format, after that the negotiations will continue in an expanded format," Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters on Friday.
After that, the signing of joint documents will take place.
"The leaders will directly sign the two main documents of this visit. The first is a joint statement by the Russian Federation and China on deepening comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation entering a new era. Such a declaration is joint, it is already in a high degree of elaboration, separate words are being agreed upon," the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation said.
The second document is a joint statement on the plan for the development of key areas of Russian-Chinese economic cooperation until 2030, Ushakov added.
Speaking about the format of the talks, Ushakov said that after signing the documents, Putin and Xi Jinping will make a statement to the press, after which a state dinner will be held in the Faceted Chamber.
In addition, by joint agreement, Putin and Xi Jinping agreed to publish their articles in Russian and Chinese newspapers ahead of the talks.
Answering a clarifying question whether the article by Russian President Vladimir Putin will also reflect the topic related to the situation in Ukraine, Ushakov said: "Our article talks about the approaches of Russia and China to the Ukrainian issue."
The presidential aide clarified that in addition to the two main documents that will be signed by the leaders, there are many documents on various branches of cooperation being worked out. "There are more than ten documents, they are in varying degrees of readiness, and they will be signed, as they say, "on the margins" of the visit. According to Ushakov, this state visit by agreement will be limited to a visit by the Chinese president to Moscow. Ushakov said that an agreement on Xi Jinping's visit to Russia was reached at the end of last year.
