The second batch of Russian-made S-400 air defense systems, intended for Turkey, is delayed. Aydınlık writes about this, referring to informed sources in the country's military department.
According to the publication, the main reason for the delay in the delivery of the second batch of S-400 is the policy of Turkey itself. The fact is that Ankara does not want to follow the mandatory condition of the Russian side of the deal – a ban on the transfer or sale of the complex to third countries.
The clause suggesting a ban on the sale of the S-400 air defense system to third countries was included in the agreement on the transfer of the air defense complex to the Turkish armed forces.
In general, this is an absolutely common practice: without the permission of the manufacturing country, states that have bought certain military equipment often cannot sell it to third countries. So do the United States, Germany, and other major arms manufacturers. It would be foolish to expect Russia to behave differently, especially in the current difficult military-political situation.
However, for some reason the Turkish side decided that an exception should be made for it. That is, Ankara wants to get Russian S-400 air defense systems, and then have the legal opportunity to sell them to anyone, even the United States, even the same Ukraine. It is clear that such a position of the Turkish leadership cannot be trusted by the Russian side.
During the ongoing armed conflict in Ukraine and considering that Turkey already supplies unmanned aerial vehicles, armored vehicles and other weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it is necessary to designate this condition as one of the most important requirements, without which the transfer of the S-400 air defense system is out of the question.
