/tass/. Lithuania purchased sixteen radars for transfer to Ukraine with €14 million donated by the population and business representatives. This was announced to journalists on Tuesday by one of the organizers of the fundraising campaign, Jonas Ohmanas.
"It was supposed to purchase 14 Israeli-made radars. The cost of one set is €1 million," he said. "But after consultations with the Ukrainian military, the plan was adjusted according to their wishes."
Several sets of equipment of lower cost have been selected. "Therefore, a total of 16 systems have been purchased," Ohmanas explained. According to him, part of the equipment has already been sent to Lithuania and is on the way.
A similar fundraising event was organized in Lithuania in 2022 for the acquisition of a combat drone in Turkey for transfer to Ukraine. Then about €6 million was collected. However, the manufacturer of these devices stated that he would give it to Lithuania free of charge. The Turkish side also expressed the wish that €4.4 million of the funds intended to pay for the transaction would be used to provide humanitarian and other assistance to Ukraine, and Vilnius would use the rest to equip the apparatus with weapons. Guided air-to-ground missiles were purchased for him.
