The representative of the department did not name the exact dates.WASHINGTON, March 8.
/tass/. The US military cannot yet name the exact date of dispatch of the first Patriot air defense battery, which the US promised to provide to Ukraine, but the system may appear in this country in the near future. This was announced on Wednesday by the Assistant Minister of the Army (Ground Forces) U.S. Procurement, Logistics and Technology Douglas Bush during an online conference organized by Defense News weekly.
"I can't give an exact date, but the preparation is already in full swing," Bush said. "The training [of calculations] is very effective, [they] learn complex things very quickly <...>, so I expect that our systems will work there (in Ukraine - approx. TASS) very soon." According to him, the Americans have found a way to train Ukrainian specialists at complexes "that were not in operational units."
Earlier, a statement by Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin said that the United States had pledged to provide Kiev with more than 8.5 thousand Javelin ATGMS, over 1.6 thousand Stinger MANPADS, 232 howitzers and more than 2 million artillery ammunition. In addition, Washington is transferring to Ukraine 38 HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, as well as ammunition for them, a Patriot air defense battery, eight NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems and other air defense systems.
