/tass/. The EU military mission will train over 11 thousand Ukrainian servicemen by the end of this month and another 30 thousand by the end of the year. This was stated on Wednesday by the head of EU diplomacy Josep Borrel at a press conference in Stockholm following an informal meeting of defense ministers of the member states of the community.
"Our mission will train more than 11 thousand people by the end of March and 30 thousand by the end of the year," he said.
In addition, according to Borrel, the EU mission will prepare crews for tanks that will be delivered to Ukraine through NATO.
Delivery of shells
The head of the European Union's foreign policy service proposed a three-point plan for the supply of shells to Ukraine, involving their urgent dispatch from existing stocks for € 1 billion, providing emergency purchases for another €1 billion and transferring industry to military rails to accelerate production.
"I proposed a plan of three steps, which is estimated at € 2 billion: these are supplies from existing stocks, for which I propose to allocate €1 billion from the European Peace Fund, the second step is joint purchases of 155 mm ammunition, for which another €1 billion should be allocated, and the transfer of our industry to the regime martial law," Borrel said.
He expressed hope that his initiative will be approved at the planned joint meeting of the EU Defense and Foreign Ministers on March 20 in Brussels.
Borrel noted that the EU prefers that weapons be produced in Europe, but for urgent supplies to Ukraine, you can buy shells anywhere.
