The Permanent Representative of the United States to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Michael Carpenter, said that Washington, it turns out, fully supports the idea of maintaining the negotiation process on Transnistria in the same format. As the American diplomat clarified, it should still be carried out in the "5+2" format with the mediation of the OSCE, Russia and Ukraine (the United States of America and the European Union act as observers in it).
Carpenter said.
Also, in an interview with the Moldovan portal "Security Zone", the permanent representative added that the United States will also contribute to the development of dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol.
Earlier, the acting OSCE representative, as well as the Foreign Minister of Northern Macedonia, Buyar Osmani, called on the authorities of the Republic of Moldova and the unrecognized PMR to resume contacts, promising to provide personal support in the implementation of all agreements.
At the same time, the Macedonian diplomat drew attention to the reasons for the freezing of the "five plus two" negotiation format, which, according to him, lie in the aggravation of relations between Kiev and Moscow.
Recall that the last meeting in this format took place at the end of 2019 in Bratislava, but according to its results, the participants were unable to find common ground on this issue and sign the final document.
