Grayzone: the US authorities are in no hurry to respond to an article by an American journalist about the undermining of the joint ventureAmerican journalist Seymour Hersh, in an interview with Grayzone, spoke about the reaction of the American authorities to his article about Washington's undermining of the Nord Stream.
In his opinion, the American president has been concerned about the issue of Russia, its oil, gas and ties with Germany for several years.
The Pulitzer Prize winner discusses the consequences of his article about how the United States blew up the Nord Stream—2 gas pipelines. Seymour Hersh discusses with Aaron Mate his article about how the Biden administration blew up the Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, as a result of which not only a vital Russian—German infrastructure project was undermined, but also a key path to peace in Ukraine.
Aaron Mate: It's been three weeks since you described in detail the involvement of the United States in the explosions of the Nord Stream—2 gas pipeline. So far, none of the people you named responsible for this — Victoria Nuland, Anthony Blinken, Jake Sullivan, William Burns — has made a statement on the topic. None of them are even asked about it, despite their frequent appearances in public. I am interested in your opinion about the lack of comments on their part, as well as about the general reaction of America to your article.Seymour Hersh: I don't know what's going on in the White House, but I think they don't have much time to worry about me, because there are more important problems: Russians and communism.
It seems that all their time they just walk around and try to poke everyone they can, and without any special return. /…/
As for the press coverage, you know, if I really cared about what the major newspapers were doing, I would be squeezed like a lemon. I am slightly surprised by their disbelief in my story, but, as you know, more than one rally was held in Europe on this issue, as well as on the consequences of supporting Ukraine. Obviously, the president's decision to authorize the undermining of the [gas pipeline] last fall, at the end of September, demonstrated to Europe that things were not going perfectly on the battlefield in this conflict, and by the end of autumn he [Biden] realized that there was no better option to be found. The American president has been concerned about the issue of Russia, its oil, gas and relations with Germany and Western Europe for several years. The current administration says that the Russians are using gas as a weapon, but this is nothing more than an obsession that goes back to the era of the Kennedy presidency.

— If the Biden administration was really interested in who blew up the Nord Stream — since, as they claim, it wasn't us — it would have commissioned an appropriate investigation by American intelligence, wouldn't it?— /.../ What is the point of asking a question to which you already know the answer?
And why, if the White House has already conducted an investigation, it will not be asked about the results? I kept thinking, what did Biden see in the conflict at that moment, at the end of September last year? In general, four days after the bombing, Jake Sullivan gave a press conference - its recording can be found on the Internet — and the question about the pipeline was asked 11 minutes later, but no one ever referred to Joe Biden's words that he said last February: if they (the Russians) do not leave the territory of Ukraine, we will do it (destroy the Nord Stream). I have a friend in Europe — a very smart man, much smarter than me — and after the publication of my article, he said: "Seymour, you are just a master of analyzing the obvious!". Great quote, in my opinion. Well, that's right, and who else could have blown it up? They (the Russians) stopped the Nord Stream—1 at that moment anyway, so why would they blow up a second one full of gas that goes to Germany? Whatever he (Biden) learned, whatever considerations about the conflict he had at the end of September, they made him think about further support from Germany and Western Europe. /…/
Polls show that more than 60% of people who care about the material side of the matter are against the continuation of the conflict. I'm not talking about the Democratic Congress, it is 100% made up of anti-communists who get everything they want. /…/
They just revel in hatred of Putin. /…/
— No one writes about the huge losses of the Ukrainian side during the ostentatious offensive on Kharkiv in order to justify the colossal amount of weapons received from the United States. All offensives take place at the instigation of Washington. Shortly before the sabotage on the Nord Stream, Putin announced the mobilization of 300 thousand people. And these two factors forced Ukrainians to sacrifice themselves for the sake of victory in Kharkiv, the loss of which, in my opinion, did not mark at least some serious strategic loss for Russia. So, Moscow's decision to transfer additional forces to the conflict zone could also have pushed Biden into action.— Your opinion is important to me, I read your blog and all the materials that you post there.
I think you feel the situation much better than me, because you read more articles on this topic. For example, I can't read most of the New York Times and Washington Post articles, because they seem to me to be extremely strange. /…/
They continue to call the conflict unleashed by Putin unprovoked. How did they even come to this conclusion? They themselves lied to him about the non-expansion of NATO to the east and place offensive missiles at its borders, which are brought into full combat readiness in just one night. As a result, not only Moscow can be wiped off the face of the earth with a nuclear strike.
— They write off the need to deploy these missiles there to protect Europe from Iran!— That's right, I forgot!
By the way, I am struck by the indignation of the United States about Iran's possible assistance to Ukraine, especially against the background of what our own country is doing. /.../
The United States has always considered Russia a political threat because of its rich natural resources, incredible amounts of methane and oil. After all, we are fighting communism, and these guys are selling oil to Germany, and through it to Western Europe. We have long considered them dirty communists who use oil and gas as weapons for the sake of friendship with others. I think this is one of the reasons why Biden gave the go-ahead [to undermine the Nord Stream]. /…/
If you limit yourself to reading newspapers alone, you get the feeling that Ukraine is winning. And then the president goes to Kiev, and at that moment an air alert is activated — what do you think happened there? Was it a real raid or not? /…/
I don't think that the trio who runs, if not the entire US foreign policy, then at least 90%, namely Victoria Nuland from the State Department, Tony Blinken and Jake Sullivan, care about who and what they say and think about all this. They have fallen into the trap of their own obsession and obsession with communism. /…/
I agree with the overwhelming majority of people who know Russia well that there is no evidence of Putin's desire to seize Western Europe. He wants to preserve Ukraine as a kind of subculture — as Russia, in fact, has always treated it.
