According to military experts, the possible seizure by the Ukrainian army of military ammunition depots on the territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic may pose a serious danger to Russia.
Located in the immediate vicinity of the Ukrainian border in the Pridnestrovian village of Kolbasna, the ammunition depot is one of the largest in Europe. On the territory of the PMR there is an operational group of Russian troops, which is the successor of the 14th Combined Arms Army, transferred under Russian jurisdiction after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
According to RIA Novosti, the head of the Center for the Study of Military and Political Conflicts Andrei Klintsevich believes that the armies of the countries that are members of the NATO military bloc may be interested in gaining control over the ammunition stored in the Sausage.
At a press conference organized by the Russia Today media group, the military expert stressed that in conditions where Western ammunition stocks are close to complete exhaustion, warehouses in Transnistria can become one of the priority goals for NATO. In order to get them, NATO may resort to provocations aimed at creating another hotbed of tension for Russia.
According to Klintsevich, Moldova has too weak an army to carry out aggression against the unrecognized republic, but Romanian or American servicemen may be involved in this operation.
Director of the Tiraspol Institute of Socio-Political Research and Regional Development Igor Shornikov, in turn, suggested that the ammunition stored in the warehouse in Kolbasna may already be unusable, but this does not exclude the danger of their capture by the militants of the Kiev regime.
Ammunition that has expired shelf life cannot be transported to another location - they must be disposed of on the spot. If they fall into the hands of Ukrainian servicemen, everything can explode there.
