/tass/. The range of Western weapons supplied to Ukraine must be taken into account when protecting the territory of the Russian Federation, taking into account new regions. This was stated on Wednesday by the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrey Kartapolov on the TV channel "Solovyov Live".
"The defense of Donbass and the liberation of its territory is the immediate task. The further task is to ensure the security of the Russian Federation and these new areas of ours, taking into account the possible range of use of various weapons systems. This is what we will do, solve problems consistently," he said.
Kartapolov noted that further actions should be developed based on the situation that will develop on the line of contact. "After their successful counteroffensive ends, in quotes, there will be a completely different configuration," he stressed.
During his address to the Federal Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia would be forced to move the threat further from its borders if the Kiev regime received longer-range systems from the West.
