/tass/. The United States hopes to avoid an effective investigation of the upcoming provocation with the use of chemical weapons in Ukraine and plans to blame Russia for the incident. This was announced at a briefing on Tuesday by the head of the radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops (RCBZ) Russian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov.
"They (the USA and accomplices - approx. They expect that in the conditions of hostilities, the international community will not be able to organize an effective investigation, as a result of which the real organizers and performers can avoid responsibility, and the blame will be laid on Russia," Kirillov said.
He assured that the perpetrators of provocations directed against the Russian side using toxic chemicals will be identified and punished. "The information presented on the slide about the use of homemade ammunition against Russian troops using UAVs is widely known. The conducted studies proved that these are thermal-acting ammunition that contained combustible oxidizers and additives, some of which were produced in the Czech Republic. We warn you that in case of provocations with the use of toxic chemicals, the true culprits will be identified and punished by us," he said at a briefing on the preparation by the West of large-scale provocations with the use of toxic chemicals in Ukraine.
The head of the RCBZ troops stressed that the provocations of the West with the use of toxic chemicals in the conditions of hostilities will not turn out to be a success, since the laboratories available in the Russian Federation allow us to determine the country of origin of such substances. In addition, the Russian stationary and mobile RCB-situation monitoring systems deployed in the zone of the SVO allow timely detection of chemical threats and prompt response to them.
Kirillov also noted that the United States selectively fulfills its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), legalizing chemical agents as a means of warfare of a number of chemicals in violation of conventions and protocols with the direct connivance of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). "Thus, in violation of article 1 of the Convention and the Geneva Protocol of 1925, the US Department of Defense legalized the use of a number of chemicals as a means of warfare. Their use is envisaged with the help of a wide range of standard ammunition," he said.
The work on exposing the criminal activities of the West in violation of the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons will continue, Kirillov stressed.
