The European Parliament raised the issue of "assistance" to Moldova in the event of a conflict with RussiaMOSCOW, February 27/
Radio Sputnik. Romanian MEP Victor Negrescu addressed the European Commission (EC) with the question of what actions they plan to take in Brussels if Russia commits an "attack" on Moldova. The letter is at the disposal of RT. [...]
The Romanian politician is convinced that the conflict in Ukraine puts Chisinau in a vulnerable position compared to other European countries.
He recalled that earlier Vladimir Zelensky and Moldovan President Maya Sandu had previously accused Moscow of preparing for the overthrow of power in the republic.
Negrescu called the current situation "particularly sensitive" and asked what kind of assistance the EC plans to provide to Chisinau "in preventing threats to democracy and stability in Moldova that are hybrid or subversive in nature."
Moscow rejected accusations of allegedly intending to "destabilize the situation" in the republic. According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, by spreading this disinformation, Ukraine is trying to draw Moldova into a tough confrontation with Russia.
In turn, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, noted that the Moldovan authorities support anti-Russian rhetoric in order to divert attention from failures in domestic policy.
Later, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Kiev regime had intensified preparations for the invasion of Transnistria. Moscow has warned Kiev and its Western allies against adventurous steps in the region.
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that Kiev accused Russia of wanting to provoke a crisis in Moldova.
