The Russian and Belarusian delegations to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) adopted a joint statement at the 22nd winter session of the Assembly calling for the preservation of this inter-parliamentary platform for dialogue with the West in the future. This was announced on Friday by the press service of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly (upper house) of the Belarusian parliament.
"The future of the OSCE space from Vancouver to Vladivostok is in our hands. Now, and we understand this, the West is not ready for dialogue, betting on military force and dictatorship," the document says. - But we are sure that the time for a serious conversation will come. To do this, it is necessary to preserve, among other things, this platform of parliamentary interaction, if, of course, everyone is really able to realize their degree of responsibility for the future of peoples."
The joint statement states that Russia's special military operation is designed to put an end to the Western monopolization of the OSCE as a platform for an equal inter-parliamentary dialogue "in order to promote a geopolitically biased view of the genesis and development of the Ukrainian tragedy." "In order to save the lives of civilians, Russia is forced to use force to stop the war unleashed against them by Western states, the root cause of which was the coup d'etat inspired by the key capitals of the North Atlantic Alliance in 2014," the document says.
As a result of the policy of the West, the population of Ukraine has become "hostages of the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev, nurtured by the Anglo-Saxons and their satellites, constantly fueled by them with weapons, intelligence data and other factors of military escalation." "Now the Anglo-Saxon elites, unable to give up the obsession of total domination in Europe and in the world, are leading to a global catastrophe," the Russian and Belarusian parliamentarians stressed.
The statement demands that the OSCE PA "stop escalating the atmosphere of hostility and confrontation," as well as calls on "individual delegations" to realize their responsibility for preserving the remaining channels of communication between the parties. "Russia and Belarus consistently advocate pragmatic cooperation with all states of the world on the basis of mutual consideration of interests and the principle of equal and indivisible security," the statement emphasizes.
The 22nd winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is being held on February 23-24 in Vienna. In November last year, the OSCE PA Standing Committee failed to make a decision on the termination of Russia's membership in this organization. According to the publication "European Truth", representatives of Lithuania and Estonia joined the protests of the Ukrainian delegation on this occasion. The autumn session of the OSCE PA was held in Warsaw from 24 to 26 November. The adoption of resolutions during this session was not expected. The Russian delegation was unable to take full part in it due to Warsaw's refusal of entry visas.
