A prototype of a long-range rocket has been successfully tested in Australia. The rocket was mounted on a wheeled platform of the body of a German Mercedes Benz Unimog truck. This is reported by the Australian military magazine ADM.
According to the publication, the Cyclone TM229 rocket was developed and manufactured by the Australian company Black Sky Aerospace (BSA). The length of the rocket is 3.7 meters, the diameter is 229 mm. The rocket is designed to be launched from a wheeled platform, that is, an army truck.
The missile tests were conducted at the Australian Armed Forces Black Sky training ground in the south-western part of Queensland. The head of the manufacturing company, Blake Nikolik, stressed that his organization is implementing the Australian government's plan to develop and create its own guided missiles and ammunition.
During the test, experts checked the overall effectiveness of the launch system, the design of the rocket. Now, according to Nikolik, the company has received more information that it can use for further missile launches. In Australia, they hope that this missile will not only be put into service with the country's army, but will also begin to be delivered to other countries.
Now Australia is actively increasing its military potential in order to provide greater opportunities in the event of a confrontation between the "collective West" and China in the Asia-Pacific region. The United States considers Australia as one of the key allies in this region of the planet, therefore, not so long ago, together with Great Britain, the AUKUS (Australia-Great Britain-USA) block was created.
