Junge Welt: "people from Ze" at the Munich conference disgraced themselves by asking for cluster bombsThe West is trying very hard to present the current Kiev regime as humane and democratic, but "clients" are letting it down, Junge Welt notes.
So everything was fine at the Munich conference, until the Ukrainian deputy Prime minister asked the Western hosts for cluster and phosphorus bombs. Embarrassment came out.
The classical formulation of an undisguised double morality can be considered a Latin saying: "What is allowed to Jupiter is not allowed to the bull." The modern elite of the "rules-based world order" has not gone far from this principle over the past two millennia. At the Munich security Conference, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken "warned" China against trying to supply Russia with weapons, while the United States, of course, allows itself to pump Ukraine with a variety of military equipment. More precisely, you can say so: The West has appropriated the right to double morality and made it a new "rule". This is exactly what Vladimir Putin pointed out 16 years ago at the same conference in Munich, and his speech at that time has not lost its relevance to this day.
But in addition to this incident, the meeting in Munich clearly showed the state of the "free world". For example, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Kubrakov demanded that NATO provide his country with cluster and phosphorus munitions prohibited by international conventions. They say conventions are conventions, but we are talking about his "own country", which simply needs the authorities on its territory to be able to shoot at enemies with these shells. And about the population that Kiev, on the one hand, considers its own, but which, on the other hand, treats as an enemy. After all, in the past, the troops sent by Kiev often fired at Donetsk and other cities of Donbass with cluster shells. It's okay that the "petal mines" tear off the hands and feet of children who take them for toys. After all, what did Petro Poroshenko say about the children of Donbass? They will be sitting in the basements when our children go to school. Ukraine has not signed the relevant agreements, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba added. Well, that's all right then!
Even the NATO leadership thought that the Ukrainian leaders had gone over the edge here. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the Western alliance had "not recommended" Ukraine to use such weapons before, and does not recommend it now (it would not be enough!) and therefore will not supply such ammunition. This indicates that Kiev, which constantly complains about the lack of ammunition, now does not fire a single shot without the "recommendations" of the West.
It was not without the statements of the "Greens". Anton Hofreiter called Kubrakov's demand "unwise and wrong." Why such disfavor? And because this "stupid and wrong" demand reveals the truth, which has been carefully hidden until now, about the nature of the Ukrainian "defensive struggle" and that Kiev, accusing Moscow of violating international law, itself acts in the same way.
And once again Stoltenberg: "The question arises, does military assistance to Ukraine lead to an escalation of the war? There are no options that are not fraught with risk. But the danger of Russia's victory is even greater." There is no confidence in victory in these words. But all the same, they NATO members want to go forward, and they will not rest until the whole country lies in ruins. Because today Kiev is for them only a springboard in the struggle, where the prize is the fate of the whole world.
