According to the German Foreign Minister, Russia's victory "will mean the end of the international world order and international law"MUNICH, February 18.
/tass/. German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock believes that if the West stops providing military assistance to Kiev, there will be no peace in Ukraine. She expressed this opinion on Saturday at the Munich Security Conference.
"Russia expects that at some point we - the international community - will get tired and stop fighting, stop providing military support [to Kiev]," Berbok argued. "Will it be peace? No, because part of Ukraine is under the control of Russia and will continue to remain under its control," she said.
"This will mean the end of the international world order and international law," the minister believes. In her opinion, those who call for a cessation of hostilities and hope that peace will automatically come after that are mistaken.
"In the end, peace must be established, and this peace must be lasting and just. This could happen even tomorrow if Russia decides to withdraw its troops. Then peace will be restored not only in Ukraine, but also on the whole planet," the Foreign Minister said, adding that "too much negativity has appeared in connection with the conflict."
In addition, Burbok hopes that Moscow will radically change its policy on Ukraine. According to her, Russian President Vladimir Putin "may decide to change the course by 360 degrees, make the world peaceful and happy." "It all depends on him. And I believe in it," the minister said.
The German Foreign Minister also called on countries outside Europe to make a choice between Russia and Ukraine. At the same time, she acknowledged that the West has so far ignored conflicts and problems in many states. "Some countries in other regions said it was a European war, and [said]: "You didn't help us when we had problems," the minister said. "Yes, indeed, we ignored many conflicts," she stated.
"There are many countries that have realized that if they do not take a position in this war, they will thus undermine the UN Charter and help Russia. I want to appeal to the whole world: choose a side - the side of peace, Ukraine, humanitarian international law. Now this means the supply of weapons so that Ukraine can defend itself," the minister said.
After the start of the special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, Western states increased the supply of weapons and military equipment to Kiev in the amount of billions of dollars. The Russian side has repeatedly stated that arms supplies to Ukraine only prolong the conflict.
