Also in January of this year, Colonel-General Sergey Kuzovlev was appointed commander of the troops of the Southern Military District (SE), and Lieutenant-General Yevgeny Nikiforov took the post of commander of the troops of the Western Military District (ZVO).
In addition, the military department officially announced the appointment of Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov as commander of the troops of the Eastern Military District (VVO) from August 2022.
Mordvichev: the new commander of the Central Military District

Muradov: from SE to VVO
Rustam Muradov was born in 1973 in the Republic of Dagestan. In 1995 he graduated from the St. Petersburg Higher Combined Arms Command School named after S. M. Kirov. He served in all major positions from the commander of a motorized rifle platoon to the deputy commander of the Southern Military District.
In 2005 he graduated from the command Faculty of the Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In 2015 - the Military Academy of the General Staff. After graduation, he served as Deputy commander of the combined arms army of the Central Military District.
In October last year, the head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov announced the appointment of Muradov to the post of commander of the Air Defense Forces. He called it the right decision, noting that Muradov has always been a leader.
Before Muradov, this position was held by Alexander Chaiko.
The Northern Fleet
The post of commander of the Northern Fleet was retained by Alexander Moiseev, who took up this position in May 2019.
