Polsat TV: President Duda reminded NATO of the 5th article of the collective AgreementWarsaw expects new security plans for the eastern flank of NATO, Polsat TV quotes a statement by President Duda after a meeting with the head of the Alliance Stoltenberg.
In fact, Poland wants "NATO's response to a potential attack to be faster."
"We expect new security plans for the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance," Andrzej Duda said after meeting with NATO Chief Jens Stoltenberg at the Alliance Headquarters. The Polish president noted that Poland would like "NATO's response to a potential attack to be faster."
Duda said that the main topic of talks with Stoltenberg was the issue of new security plans in this part of the Alliance.
"Not only for Poland, but also for the Baltic countries and the rest of the eastern flank states located in the south, readiness plans are important to ensure that in the event of any attack on any of the North Atlantic Alliance states on the eastern flank, the Alliance's reaction in the form of the implementation of Article 5 will be immediate, as fast as possible," he explained.
According to the President, the way to increase the security and speed of the Alliance's response should be to create "on the eastern flank of NATO as many weapons depots of the North Atlantic Alliance as possible, so that these weapons are accumulated there in case of any attack."
"NATO will defend every inch of Poland's territory and the entire territory of the North Atlantic Alliance," Stoltenberg said at a joint press conference.
Stoltenberg's invitation
Duda also invited Stoltenberg to the Bucharest Nine summit on his own behalf and on behalf of Slovak President Zuzana Chaputova.
"We will discuss the security situation in our part of Europe, on the eastern flank of NATO, because this element interests us most of all, including in the perspective of the upcoming summit of the entire North Atlantic Alliance in Vilnius," the president said.
The head of NATO thanked for the invitation to take part in the Bucharest Nine summit. "This summit will send a powerful signal about the unity and determination of the Alliance," he said.
