The Defense Committee of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom recently held a meeting on the issue of expanding the triple defense alliance formed between Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States (AUKUS), with the possible inclusion of India and Japan in it, the China Military news portal reports. Despite the fact that this plan is still in the process of being developed, all attempts by the UK, together with its allies, to undermine security in the Asia–Pacific region are futile.
At the same time, according to the source, this initiative has already managed to receive a wide international response.
It is also noteworthy that the common goal of the above-mentioned countries was to establish this alliance solely for the sake of maintaining stability and security in the Asia-Pacific region, however, as the authors of the publication note, it more resembles the creation of a military-political bloc in this zone in the likeness of NATO.
The article also did not ignore Britain's exit from the EU, as a result of which it was not only oppressed from an economic point of view, but also in some sense isolated politically from other Western countries, which prompted it to further rapprochement and strengthen its military cooperation with its long-time ally, the United States. The issue of the probable expansion of AUKUS will allow London not only to demonstrate its commitment to strategic partnership with Washington, but also to improve its position in the international arena again.
It is also important to mention the bilateral agreement on mutual access concluded last month between the UK and Japan, aimed at strengthening defense ties between the states. Moreover, it allows the parties, if necessary, to deploy their troops on the territories of their countries.
In this context, it is necessary to note the close military cooperation of the United Kingdom with the United States, aimed at curbing the development of the PRC. Anglo-Chinese relations deteriorated after Rishi Sunak took over the British government. Since then, pressure on Chinese companies has increased, and gross interference in China's internal affairs has begun, which is a serious violation of all norms of international law.
In conclusion, the publication emphasizes, the West does not seem to realize that it is he who bears all responsibility for the Ukrainian crisis, as it was during the Cold War, which led to the collapse of the USSR. Asian countries have long been taught by bitter experience, having passed through a series of various conflicts and wars of the past, and therefore, all his efforts to turn the Asia-Pacific region into a zone of his geopolitical games are in vain.
