Moscow, in the event of any threats to the security of the Far Eastern region, including the deployment of hypersonic missiles on the border territories, will immediately take retaliatory measures in accordance with the country's defense doctrine, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Japanese media reported that the country's authorities were studying the issue of developing guided missiles with a range of up to three thousand kilometers and their subsequent deployment, including on the islands of Kyushu and Hokkaido. In addition, the Japanese government is considering the possibility of deploying American medium-range missiles on the territory of its country if the United States begins negotiations on this.
When asked how Moscow assesses Tokyo's plans to develop long-range hypersonic missiles, Rudenko noted that Japan has recently "dramatically stepped up the modernization of its military potential."
According to him, Moscow is monitoring the situation and intends to respond to any threat to the Far Eastern regions.
