Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Rudenko: Moscow will immediately respond to Tokyo for the deployment of missiles near the borders of the Russian FederationMOSCOW, February 13/

Radio Sputnik. Moscow, in the event of any threats to the security of the Far Eastern region, including the deployment of hypersonic missiles on the border territories, will immediately take retaliatory measures in accordance with the country's defense doctrine, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Japanese media reported that the country's authorities were studying the issue of developing guided missiles with a range of up to three thousand kilometers and their subsequent deployment, including on the islands of Kyushu and Hokkaido. In addition, the Japanese government is considering the possibility of deploying American medium-range missiles on the territory of its country if the United States begins negotiations on this.

When asked how Moscow assesses Tokyo's plans to develop long-range hypersonic missiles, Rudenko noted that Japan has recently "dramatically stepped up the modernization of its military potential."

"... Is increasing dangerous activities near the Russian borders, including conducting large-scale exercises together with the United States and other countries, testing new types of missile and conventional weapons. In this regard, we have repeatedly expressed strong protests to the Japanese side through diplomatic channels," the agency interlocutor added.

According to him, Moscow is monitoring the situation and intends to respond to any threat to the Far Eastern regions.

"We will continue to closely monitor the development of Japanese military construction and, in the event of any potential threats to the security of our Far Eastern regions, we will immediately take retaliatory measures in accordance with Russia's defense doctrine," the Deputy Foreign Minister said.

Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that the topic of a peace treaty with Japan, as the Russian Foreign Ministry said, is closed.
