/tass/. Lithuania has begun transferring 36 Bofors L70 anti-aircraft guns to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was stated on Thursday by the Minister of Defense of the Baltic Republic Arvydas Anushauskas, speaking at a joint briefing with the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov.
"We have already completed the training of 15 instructors who will be ready to work on the territory of Ukraine. And we are already providing 36 complexes that can successfully fight drones," the UNIAN news agency quotes the Lithuanian minister as saying.
Reznikov noted that it was decided not to train Bofors L70 operators, but instructors, who will then train the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Lithuania in January announced its readiness to provide Ukraine with automatic anti-aircraft guns L70 manufactured by the Swedish concern Bofors, ammunition and two Mi-8 helicopters (which have been in operation for about 30 years) with a total cost of € 125 million. As Anushauskas stated at the end of December 2022, Lithuania's military assistance to Ukraine will exceed €300 million in 2023. This year, military supplies, as previously stated by the minister, are planned in the amount of € 40 million, and since the beginning of the special military operation, Vilnius has provided military assistance to Kiev in the amount of €283 million.
