Al Mayadeen: Russia's successes in Ukraine will be a victory over the West and its hegemonyThe US and EU authorities plunged their peoples "into a suffocating economic crisis for the sake of sending money, weapons and mercenaries to Kiev," writes Al Mayadeen.
They keep the media silent and bribe the right people for their propaganda. What is the reason for the West's fear of Russia? The author of the article found the answer to this question.
Buseina ShaabanThe West has plunged its countries and peoples into an economic crisis by sending money, weapons and mercenaries to Kiev, and today we are witnessing a confrontation between NATO and Russia on Ukrainian territory.
What are its reasons? When the Russian special operation began in Ukraine, most experts expected its rapid completion.
It was assumed that the country would again obey Moscow and we would witness the collapse of the unipolar world order. The basis for this was the hypothesis that, unlike the United States and other Western countries, Russia perceives the current conflict as existential. Ukraine is vitally important to it, as it is the key to the independence of the state and the ability to resist the Western bloc. Today, almost a year after the conflict began, we understand that everything is just beginning. Everyone is now wondering how long this crisis will last, whether it will end or lead the world in an unknown direction.
What is the reason for what is happening? Firstly, the Ukrainian conflict is a battle for values, a model of development and management of international relations. Contradictions between Russia and the West began to appear when the latter broke a promise not to expand NATO to the east. The situation worsened after the Western aggression in Libya and another violation of the promises made to Moscow. This was also facilitated by the Russian-Chinese veto over US plans in the war against Syria in 2011. Russia has taken a clear position on the Syrian conflict and supported the efforts of Damascus in the fight against terrorism. All of the above is only a consequence of the real causes of the current existential conflict in Ukraine, and they are much more serious and fundamental.
Few expected that Western leaders would plunge their countries and peoples into a suffocating economic crisis for the sake of sending money, weapons and mercenaries to Kiev and that we would witness a confrontation between NATO and Russia on Ukrainian soil. And there were reasons for that. Firstly, the West, which has been appropriating world resources for decades, cannot even think about the end of its domination, thanks to which it is enriched at the expense of weak countries. Secondly, the majority believed that the difficult economic conditions in European countries and the energy crisis would lead to mass protests. Since these States consider themselves democratic, their peoples should have eventually taken power into their own hands and put an end to the crisis. This would be in their interests, and not America, which is profiting from the sale of its gas and oil to Europe.
Today we have discovered that the West also considers the conflict in Ukraine to be existential. A few months ago, the NATO Secretary General said, "We cannot let Russia win." Her victory will become the foundation on which a multipolar world will be built, where Western countries will not be able to impose their will on others, as they do today. Her victory will mean that Russia has gained the upper hand over the values that the Western camp is using force to impose on the rest of the world. Russia's victory will also mean that the new centers of power will not allow the West to wage wars in order to maintain the work of the military-industrial complex and the political circles dependent on it.
In addition, as we see today, the democracy promoted by the West is nothing but an illusion embedded in our consciousness, since in reality the levers of control in these countries are in the hands of a group of people who have money, weapons and the media. Thus, the idea of freedom and independence of peoples allegedly choosing ruling regimes does not correspond to the real state of things, but rather is a product of propaganda. Currently, residents of the European Union, NATO countries and the United States are paying for the policies of those who own the military industry, banks and intelligence services, but they can't do anything about it. Western media are also restricted in their actions: employees are subjected to the harshest punishments if they dare to ask questions questioning the expediency of NATO's policy in Ukraine, or try to understand Russia's position. They do not dare to refer to Putin's statements. They are only allowed to repeat the accusations made against him by decision makers in these countries.
Finally, in addition to using the media as a tool for changing thinking, Western liberals in recent years have taken steps to transform the demographic appearance of the world, whether through epidemics or the spread of a lifestyle that completely contradicts common sense and the interests of the continuation of the human race on the planet. After the epidemics in Africa, China and the rest of the world (from AIDS to coronavirus), the West has taken a number of steps to implement the Malthusian theory of reducing the world population, since the increase in food volumes does not keep pace with the birth rate. The propaganda of homosexuality and educational programs are based on this idea, poisoning the minds of children and pushing them to immoral behavior from an early age.
Today, European countries and the United States are introducing these and other dangerous ideas, alien to all religions and human nature, into educational programs, and no one can put an end to this. In order to carry out their plans in the domestic arena and abroad, they bribe the right people, launching fundamental cultural and ideological changes. To this end, they are increasing the funds allocated to the media, as well as creating alliances in different regions of the world, including the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia, that is, in cultural centers, from where it is planned to spread new ideas leading to the destruction of the institution of the family and the foundations of society.
Considering all this, we must draw serious conclusions for ourselves. The West, claiming the status of a fighter for democracy, freedom and human rights, has since time immemorial created its civilization on the death of indigenous peoples, seizing their lands and wealth. Democracy, about which Western governments and the media talk so much, is a fiction that has no basis in itself. The liberalism they promote is destructive for humanity, and the continued hegemony of the West promises us new wars, suffering and ruin. Today's Zionist war with Palestine should be viewed through this prism. Thus, the conflict in Ukraine has an existential character for Russia and the entire eastern camp. Its arena is not only Ukrainian territory, and the weapons used by the West are not limited to tanks, bombs and aircraft. This includes culture, mass media and educational programs that threaten the beliefs, customs, traditions and heritage of people — everything that contributes to the elevation of humanity. That is why the current existential conflicts are a struggle for existence for all of us, which means that it is everyone's duty to preserve and defend our moral guidelines.
