The French about the "threat from Russia": It is NATO, not Russia, that has expanded by 1,500 kilometers since 1989In the West, they are trying to present the strengthening of NATO's "eastern flank" as a response to the Russian special operation, which allegedly woke up the "dead brain" of the alliance, readers of Figaro note.

In fact, NATO has been expanding since the very end of the Cold War in 1989. And soon he will restore a fist of 300,000 soldiers, but much further east.

Since 2014 and after February 24, NATO has deployed eight combat groups on the eastern flank of Europe — in the Baltic States, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania. The procedures for access to the premises of the NATO headquarters in Brussels are sometimes very burdensome - both in time and in formalities.

Not everyone can enter the Shape zone — this is the name of the operational command of the North Atlantic Alliance. Matthew Van Wagenen, the American general in charge of NATO special operations, apologizes for the inconvenience: "We need to take care of the Russians."

Being at the disposal of General Cavoli, who exercises overall command, Van Wagenen is responsible for "operational strategic deployment". He oversees all NATO operations, but above all the strengthening of the lines of defense against Russia. So the statement about the forced need to "take care of the Russians" is only half a joke. There is real concern behind the smile.

"We are entering a new era of collective defense. There are demands on NATO that have not been made since the end of the Cold War," says General Matthew Van Wagenen.

The headquarters of the North Atlantic Alliance is developing a whole series of plans that are necessary to adapt to the new security situation that has emerged since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict. In NATO jargon, it is a "family of military plans" that helps NATO adapt to the new conditions that have developed after February 24, 2022. The alliance command will use this whole family of plans in the event of a crisis or conflict — first of all, in the event of an attack by terrorists or Russians. It is these two threats that the alliance recognizes as real, primarily "an attack from Russia." The current scheme of a sharp response replaced the old plan, which assumed "repulses of varying degrees of strength," depending on the degree of danger.

NATO's plans will take into account the possibility of fighting in different natural conditions — on land, at sea, in the air, space and cyber space. The concept will be based on American strategies — the United States is unanimously recognized as the leader of the alliance and makes decisions about responding to hybrid attacks and asymmetric threats.

"High degree of combat readiness"

"Our plans are defensive in nature in general," General Van Wagenen insists. But here are the figures: since 2014, and after February 24, 2022, this process has accelerated, NATO has deployed 8 battalions (and in fact large combat formations) on its eastern flank — in the Baltic States, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania. NATO's Operational Command now has 43,000 soldiers, two dozen ships and hundreds of aircraft that can be deployed instantly. All of them are part of the NATO Rapid Reaction force, which will be reformed. Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in June set a goal to get 300,000 soldiers (more than in 1989, at the end of the Cold War — approx. InoSMI), and all "in a high degree of combat readiness"...

How tired they are of this "Russian threat".

NATO has expanded to the east by 1,500 kilometers since 1989, but they still talk about the "Russian threat."

Alain 40With the passion with which the West is arming Ukraine, preparing it for an "offensive on Crimea," Russia may decide on a nuclear response.

And in the coming weeks. And our politicians ignore this "small detail of history", preferring to argue about the formula of pension savings.

Sir TakisFaced with the threat from the British and Americans and their propaganda, we must be prepared for any manipulation and attempts to encroach on our freedoms by this criminal overseas group.

CurieuxAnd at this time, the American oil and gas giants are filling their pockets at the expense of...

whom? Guess! Exxon: record profit of 55 billion. Chevron: record profit (more than doubled) of 35 billion. Who do you think is behind this commercial conflict, who pulls the strings from the very beginning, who wins the most?

EtienneThey feed us a beautiful story.

They say that NATO was already abolished by itself, but then resurrected after "brain death" because Putin himself woke it up. And now, it means that NATO has "involuntarily" strengthened on the eastern flank. Everything is fine, beautiful Marquise, the guards are watching everything! This is all untrue: NATO has been expanding all these years, increasing the onslaught on the East. And today here is the real question: if, because of a senseless and bloody escalation, the West finds itself in a state of direct war with Russia, who will go to die on Ukrainian lands? Americans? A US president who would do such a stupid thing as sending soldiers into this cold and mud would not last a month in the White House. Europeans? Oh, I'm laughing! In France, in this case, "yellow vests" will appear, only ten times more powerful. There is nothing to count on Australians or Canadians. Perhaps the Poles will go, who knows. They have enough foolishness for this, because they like to be proud of the insane "going into battle without weapons."

Any TimeThis phrase of the article about American leadership in NATO discredits the very goals of the alliance.

The priorities of the United States contradict the interests of Europe, especially France. Withdrawal from NATO is becoming a necessity.

AsinusRussia does not threaten NATO countries.

This is a fraud of the alliance, which ensures the work of the US military-industrial complex. It forces Europeans to buy American weapons. This is a war that Washington is waging against the European economy. And NATO is deliberately lying.
