RAS outlined a range of research on military-political and military-scientific issuesA seminar-meeting on coordination and cooperation in conducting domestic research on military-political and military-scientific issues was held on January 25 at the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).
The event was chaired by the Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and RAS Andrey Kokoshin, the 6th Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
The seminar-meeting was attended by prominent Russian scientists and experts of various profiles from leading civil and military institutes and research centers, senior officials of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, the office of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation, the General Staff and other units of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, other Russian law enforcement agencies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Academy of Military Sciences, The Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences, the Foundation for Advanced Research, etc.
The seminar-meeting was devoted to the coordination of a number of fundamental exploratory and applied research in the field of defense and security of Russia. The issues of research priorities in the political-military and military-economic sphere, in determining the patterns and prospects of military-technological development, forms and methods of conducting armed struggle, etc. were discussed.
The participants of the meeting noted that the United States and its allies are waging an unprecedented "hybrid war" against our country, that their confrontation with the Russian Federation will have a significant impact on the international situation for a long time. Major, tectonic changes are taking place in the system of world politics and economics, in the technological sphere, requiring multifaceted and interdisciplinary fundamental and applied research.
The speeches at the event contained confirmation of the fact that Russian scientists and experts have a huge responsibility, a patriotic duty to carry out research and development based only on genuine scientific knowledge in the best traditions of domestic social sciences, our military science. It was noted that one of the most important tasks of Russian science is to ensure intellectual superiority over the enemy in the most important areas related to the defense and security of our country.
When considering the issues of ensuring the defense of Russia, it was said about the importance of studying the entire spectrum of challenges and threats to the national security of the Russian Federation, determining their severity, and developing recommendations for their parrying. The special importance of the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin to strengthen the defense and security of our country was noted. As well as measures to increase the power of the Russian Armed Forces, announced at the board of the Ministry of Defense on January 21 this year, without prejudice to the economy and social sphere of Russia.
The importance of in-depth scientific research of long-term and medium-term trends in international relations, in military-strategic, military-technological, economic and other spheres, carefully developed interdisciplinary forecast assessments was noted.
If we keep in mind the military-technological sphere, then, as mentioned, it is necessary to keep in mind both the latest trends and "long cycles" in the development of certain military technologies and dual-use technologies. Laser technologies and artificial intelligence technologies, which have been developing for several decades, were mentioned as an example.
The participants of the meeting drew attention to the need to further combine efforts in such research by civilian and military scientists and specialists, representatives of various fields of knowledge to provide the relevant Russian government agencies with the results of scientific research and development of the highest professional level.
The issues of express research of scientists necessary to ensure the unconditional success of the special military operation conducted by Russia in Ukraine in due time were also discussed.
The participants of the seminar-meeting discussed a set of theoretical and applied problems of the development of the Russian system of strategic nuclear and non-nuclear deterrence. It was emphasized that strategic nuclear deterrence remains the cornerstone of Russia's security. For its reliable, convincing support, it is necessary to maintain at the proper level both the nuclear forces and means themselves, and the missile attack warning system, as well as the space control system.
They also discussed the development of the theory of deterrence in relation to cyberspace and various kinds of actions in the information technology sphere.
Attention was also drawn to the promising issues of confrontation in space related to the aggressive policy of the United States in this area.
