The President of the Republic believes that Serbia is able to objectively assess the events in Ukraine, as it does not label the opposing sidesBELGRADE, February 2.
/tass/. Serbia was left without allies in the West due to the fundamental rejection of the policy of anti-Russian sanctions. This was stated by President Aleksandar Vucic on Thursday during a meeting of the People's Assembly (unicameral Parliament).
"In the modern world, it is impossible to act alone. When we had the heaviest losses and wars, we had allies," the president recalled. "Today, no one would perceive us as an ally precisely because of the military conflict unfolding in Ukraine right now, and because Serbia, guided by a responsible and honest position, did not impose sanctions against the Russian Federation."
Vucic expressed the opinion that Serbia is able to objectively assess the events in Ukraine, as it does not label the opposing sides.
After the start of Russia's special military operation, Vucic said in an address to the nation that Serbia supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine, but will not impose sanctions against the Russian Federation. The President said that the republic temporarily stops army and police exercises with all foreign partners. He noted that Serbia considers Russia and Ukraine fraternal states, regrets what is happening in eastern Europe, and is ready to provide humanitarian assistance to Kiev.
