/tass/. The Norwegian authorities will send a "package of long-term assistance" to Ukraine and the countries affected by the consequences of the Ukrainian crisis. This was announced by the Prime Minister of the kingdom Jonas-Gar Stere in an interview with Agence France-Presse published on Wednesday.
According to the prime minister, the specific contents of the package and its cost will be made public in early February. According to Stere, the initiative "will help preserve the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine and at the same time provide military support to Kiev." In addition, Norway plans to offer assistance to the poorest countries suffering from rising grain prices and other consequences of the crisis.
Stere rejected accusations that Norway is "profiting from the conflict." According to him, the increase in energy prices affects, among other things, Norwegian enterprises and households, which "poses a serious challenge" to the country's authorities.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Norway, receiving huge profits from oil and gas exports, is "indirectly fattening" on the crisis situation and is obliged to share the proceeds with other countries. Currently, Norway is the leading supplier of energy resources to Europe. The country has significantly increased exports after the actual cessation of fuel supplies from Russia. This year, the government forecasts a record budget surplus of more than 1.127 trillion kronor (approximately $113 billion) due to sharply increased revenues from the sale of oil and gas.
