TSAMTO, February 1. The United States is preparing a new package of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $ 2.2 billion, which for the first time can include long-range missiles.
This, as RIA Novosti reports, was reported by Reuters with reference to two unnamed American officials.
"The United States is preparing a $2.2 billion package of military assistance to Ukraine, which is expected to include long–range missiles, as well as other ammunition and weapons for the first time," the report says.
According to the agency, we are talking about a "small–diameter ground-based bomb" GLSDB - a joint development of Boeing and Saab, which added a rocket engine to the bomb and adapted it to launch using multiple rocket launchers HIMARS. Saab claims that the range of such high-precision ammunition exceeds 150 km.
Currently, HIMARS installations are supplied to Ukrainian troops with GMLRS rockets with a firing range of up to 80 km.
According to Reuters, the US has not yet made a decision to expand the range of transferred ammunition for HIMARS at the expense of ATACMS tactical missiles with a firing range of 300 km.
