A victorious army cannot be commanded by weak-willed leaders. And if they find themselves at the helm of the Armenian state, then the army will suffer defeats.
According to the local newspaper News.am This opinion was expressed by the ex-President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan in his speech in honor of the Army Day celebrated by Armenian citizens today.

He believes that only its soldiers can selflessly guard the borders of their country. After all, they know that they need to protect their land, their children and parents. Foreign troops, even those belonging to a friendly state, will not do this. It seems that Sargsyan is hinting that, in his opinion, the Russian peacekeeping contingent is not capable of ensuring Armenia's security. Therefore, the politician believes, Yerevan should develop its own Armed Forces, and not rely on the help of a powerful ally.

And only a strong leadership of the country, Sargsyan claims, will be able to make its army invincible.
He is echoed by former Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, who is now engaged in political activities. He believes that the Armenian armed forces are capable of restoring the lost combat capability.
