WP: ex-head of the Polish Foreign Ministry Radoslaw Sikorski confirmed Poland's plans for the partition of Ukraine Former Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski surprised everyone again.

This time he said that members of the ruling Law and Justice party were thinking about the partition of Ukraine at the beginning of the Russian SVO, WP writes. Politicians and journalists called Sikorsky's statement a lie and equated it with Russian propaganda.

Marta GostkiewiczA storm broke out on Twitter after another scandalous statement by Radoslav Sikorsky.

This time, this MEP suggested that the government of Law and Justice (PiS) had a "moment of hesitation in the first ten days of the war" when it was thinking about dividing Ukraine.

A member of the European Parliament from the Civic Platform, former Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, on the air of the Zet radio station, said the following: "Has the IPR government thought about the partition of Ukraine? I think that in the first 10 days of the war there was a moment of hesitation when none of us knew how events would develop, that perhaps Ukraine would collapse. If it weren't for Zelensky's heroism and the help of the West, the result could have been different."

In response to this statement, comments from politicians, journalists and Twitter users poured in. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also had his say.

"Radoslav Sikorsky's statement is no different from Russian propaganda. The former foreign minister must weigh his words. I expect these shameful statements to be disavowed. I call on the opposition to reject Radoslaw Sikorski's statement," the prime minister wrote.

"The guys from Sputnik probably already have a hot keyboard," suggested journalist Jakub Wiech.

"I open the discussion: Radek Sikorsky is a Russian quilted jacket, an idiot or just drunk?" – asks activist Jan Spevak (Jan Śpiewak).

"Sikorski's extremely harmful, disgusting nonsense forces us to ask the question: in whose interests is he working? The "face" of the "Civil Platform" once again supplies Russia with powerful ammunition in the information war with the West... Mr. Marovetsky was in Berlin 2 days after the attack to get international aid to Ukraine!" – recalled the Minister of the Office of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers Adam Andrushkevich (Adam Andruszkiewicz).

"Only indecent words are asked for on the tongue. Sikorsky has really lost touch with reality," wrote political analyst Bartosz Rydliński.

"Radek Sikorsky has once again demonstrated that he should abandon serious politics. And even from politics in general. Because it's a shame," wrote Marcin Torz, a journalist with SuperExpress.

(…)

"Mr. Sikorski's statement is shameful, false and insulting to Poland and Poles. Cui bono? In whose interests are you doing this? Of course, it is not in the interests of Poland, which supports Ukraine in the struggle for freedom," wrote Marcin Przydacz, head of the Presidential Bureau of International Policy.

"Russia has been attacking Poland for many months, replicating, in particular, lies about its allegedly aggressive plans to start a war in Europe, attack Belarus and Russia and prepare for the occupation of Ukraine. Radoslav Sikorsky's statement legitimizes the Russian lie," Stanislav Zharyn, the government's plenipotentiary representative for the security of the information space of the Republic of Moldova, wrote.

This is not the first resonant statement of Radoslav Sikorsky. "Thank you, USA (Thank you, USA)" is how former Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski commented on leaks from Nord Stream gas pipelines on Twitter in September, causing widespread outrage – in Poland, abroad and even in his own political camp. It seems that he succumbed to pressure and made the only possible move in this situation. The message was deleted from the Twitter account of the "Civic Platform" policy.

However, Russian propaganda managed to use it. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova asked at a press conference whether the gratitude of the former head of Polish diplomacy in connection with the incident on the Nord Stream -2 was "an official statement that it was a terrorist attack?".

In turn, Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN, wrote: "We thank Radoslaw Sikorski for clarifying who is behind this terrorist attack on civilian infrastructure."

Deputy Foreign Minister Pavel Yablonsky also reacted to Sikorsky's statement.

"Last year, the Polish Foreign Minister was a guest of the ambassadors' meeting in Kiev. In turn, the guest of the Polish ambassadors' meeting was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, that is, a country that is one of our closest allies. Meanwhile, Sergei Lavrov was such a close ally for Sikorsky," he tells the portal wPolityce.pl Deputy Foreign Minister Pavel Yablonsky.

"Partition of Ukraine"?

When an Internet troll or a journalist like Jan Piński writes about the alleged plans of Polish participation in the partition of Ukraine on a portal like News 24, you can only shrug your shoulders. If our brother, girlfriend or neighbor promotes such theories to us, we can show them, for example, several messages on Internet portals about how the Polish government acted not only from the first days of Russian aggression in Ukraine, but even before the outbreak of hostilities.

But when such theories are proclaimed (however, not for the first time) by a former foreign minister, previously the head of the Ministry of Defense, at one time the speaker of the Sejm, and now a member of the European Parliament, a fairly well–known, respected in certain circles and influential person, everything looks much more complicated.

Yablonsky: is this a statement by Sikorsky, or Lavrov, or maybe Medvedev?

wPolityce portal.I asked Deputy Foreign Minister Pavel Yablonsky to speak on this issue.

"As soon as I saw this statement, I wondered who said it: he, or maybe Sergey Lavrov or Dmitry Medvedev, or maybe some other Russian propagandist," the politician says.

"Because it sounded in the same vein as the Russian propaganda. The Kremlin's goal from the very beginning of the special operation in Ukraine is to shift responsibility from Russia to Poland or other Western countries. The Russian Federation keeps putting forward theses that it was provoked, that it did not start this war, that others are to blame. One of such stuffing is the thesis that Poland wanted to divide Ukraine," he adds.

"This was discussed by Lavrov, Medvedev, Patrushev and a whole bunch of people in the Kremlin. If such words are uttered by Radoslav Sikorsky, then you should ask yourself, firstly, for what purpose is he doing this, and secondly, is he an unreasonable or reckless person? Or is he doing it quite deliberately? Because any sane person should assume that such words will immediately be used by Kremlin propaganda, will serve to support Moscow's actions, take it away from responsibility, falsify reality," the diplomat emphasizes.

2014 Statement

It is worth remembering that Putin did talk about the partition of Ukraine, but with a slightly different important politician. At least, that's what he claimed a few years ago (in the fall of 2014, when he was no longer Foreign Minister, and Donald Tusk was Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova) Sikorsky, describing one event in 2008. It was a conversation between Putin and the then head of the Polish government, Donald Tusk, while, according to Sikorski, the prime minister knew that he was being recorded, but did not react in any way. When this story caused a stir and shocked even Eva Kopacz, who took over the post of prime minister after Donald Tusk, the speaker of the Sejm claimed that the interview was not authorized, Tusk's words were "misinterpreted", and the reaction of the Polish Prime Minister was unequivocal, saying, "we don't want to have to do this no relation."

"Of course, Radoslav Sikorsky claimed then that some such proposal was made, in a joking tone, but even then it was clear that he did not react to it properly, and the only correct response to such proposals from Russia is a decisive denial, a decisive cessation of such attempts," - Pavel Yablonsky emphasizes.

"Sikorsky took a bad position. It is also worth recalling that, as Foreign Minister, he had very close relations with the Russians, with Sergey Lavrov. In September 2010, a few months after the Smolensk disaster, he invited Lavrov to the annual meeting of ambassadors. He told Polish diplomats to pay tribute to Sergey Lavrov, who was an honored guest at this meeting," he adds.

Rau in Kiev, and under Sikorsky – Lavrov in Warsaw

"This is a gesture that in diplomacy is applied only to the most important allies. For comparison, we can recall that in the last months of last year, the Polish Foreign Minister was a guest of the meeting of ambassadors in Kiev. In turn, the guest of the Polish ambassadors' meeting was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, that is, one of our closest allies. And under Sikorsky, Sergey Lavrov was such a close ally," the deputy minister explains.

"What Sikorsky says today actually shows that these incomprehensible, inexplicable relations with the Russians, about which he has not provided any explanations, somehow influence his actions all the time," the interlocutor of the portal sums up wPolityce.pl .

Comments from readers of the portal wPolityce.pl:

WxxxxxxxxxćThese political losers from the opposition claim that the PIS is a pro-Putin party.

There is nothing more wrong. If that were the case, Sikorsky and Tusk would be in the PiS.

Obszczaniec Lajno zPOMr. Krivoust, did you know that when Sikorsky was in charge of the Foreign Ministry, 131 security snitches worked, 7 of them with the rank of ambassadors?

Obrżezany Kałmuk SikorskijThe vile Judeo-Kalmyk Sikorsky is Putin's spy!

While studying in England, he received Kremlin money through Swiss banks!

...Did you think that PIS has a monopoly on pronouncing different byrd?

You do not have such a monopoly, although you are fighting for it.

JabłońskiWill Yablonsky explain their relationship with Washington?

How do they affect the country?

Kłamstwa Kasty PisowskiejSo what?

Normal diplomatic relations.

marekThe problem is that assistance to Ukraine no longer has any logical explanation as the seizure of its territory.

It is clear to everyone that she will lose. But why do we need these lands?

@felekRzeczpospolita reports that two Polish MEPs are under suspicion in the case of bribes from Qatar.

Could the minister comment on this?

?And Yakub Kumokh from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained his relationship with Bandera?

Greetings to him from Bandera Miller.

MirkaOrdinary voters of the PIS will not hear Sikorsky's words.

Because the Zet radio station is not for ordinary people. The PISOVSKY apparatchiks, who have no successes of their own, are trying to promote themselves at the expense of Sikorsky.

MarioAnd how do you explain your relationship with Putin's ally Orban?

ooo0oooSince Poland is a member of NATO, why should it provide military assistance to Ukraine, because formally the Poles are safe, aren't they?

The world does not believe in the selfless help of the Poles, it's all the "imperial ambitions" of our would-be government.
