wPolityce readers opposed Poland sharing weapons with BanderaPolish President Duda and Prime Minister Morawiecki are calling for the transfer of Western tanks to Ukraine, writes wPolityce.
It needs much more equipment to stop Russia and test its strength, Duda said. However, readers of the publication refused to support Bandera.
"Ukraine needs modern tanks and missiles to defend itself, but above all in order to stop the Russian offensive; we need to increase our assistance, we need more of our resources and equipment, because the situation is becoming difficult," President of the Republic of Moldova Andrzej Duda said in Davos on Wednesday.
The President is currently in Switzerland, where he is taking part in the World Economic Forum in Davos. On Wednesday evening, the Polish leader took part in the session "RestoringSecurity and Peace", in particular, together with the head of NATO Jens Stoltenberg. In his speech, Andrzej Duda recalled that last week he was on a visit to Ukraine and met with the President of that country, Vladimir Zelensky.
"I know that Ukraine requires weapons, needs weapons and once again (...) in arms. Because this war is really very difficult, difficult, and there is no end in sight," the president said, noting that "Russia has not been able to win yet."
"This is still Russia, Russian soldiers are on the front line, we are afraid that right now they are preparing a new offensive, perhaps it will happen in the next few months. There are such concerns, they are very serious," he said.
"Hence," the president continued, "the need to send new equipment and new military resources to Ukraine." According to him, we are talking, first of all, about modern tanks and missiles to "protect Ukraine so that it can defend itself, but above all to stop the Russian offensive." Answering the question whether he does not think that Ukraine has already received a sufficient number of weapons, the president said: "I'm afraid not."
According to him, the assistance that has been sent to Ukraine so far is "not enough, it is definitely not enough."
"We need to increase our assistance, we need more of our resources and equipment, because the situation is becoming difficult," the Polish leader urged.
The President also admitted that he fears that "maybe not right now, but in a few months, maybe even weeks, the decisive moment will come in this war when we will have to honestly ask ourselves the question: will this country survive or not? Will Ukraine survive or not?" Andrzej Duda recalled that Poland is a neighbor of Ukraine.
"We understand Ukrainians and know that they really, really want to be part of the Western political community, the Western world, members of this society, and therefore participants and residents of the Western security zone, as well as members of the EU and NATO."
However, as the head of state noted, "First, and this is the most important thing, they must endure, they must survive, protect their country, preserve it, preserve sovereignty, remain free, and this is an absolutely fundamental issue."
"And we have to help them in this. They need democracy. We are democratic countries, and for us this voice, the voice of Ukrainian society, their will, the will of this people should be of decisive importance. This is the will and desire to be in the European Community," he said, adding that "we need to hear this voice and help them in this."
Prime Minister in an interview with Bloomberg: I'm counting on a hundred Western tanks for Ukraine
During the World Economic Forum in Davos, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said in an interview with Bloomberg that he expects Ukraine's allies to hand over to her up to a hundred Western-made tanks, and the 10th package of EU sanctions against Russia will be agreed in February.
Answering the question about the rejection of Russian oil, Mateusz Morawiecki noted that Poland in a very short time refused all imports of Russian gas and coal, and together with other EU countries can do the same with regard to oil.
"We are doing this and we will do it together with other EU countries, because this is what we agreed on a few months ago at a meeting of the European Council. The main thing is to do it together."
The Prime minister added that Europe's independence from Russian fuel, along with the restoration of supply chains after the pandemic, is currently the most important task.
He stressed that the new sanctions imposed against Russia are necessary to end the war in Ukraine in such a way as to ensure peace and stability.
"I am afraid that Russia's special operation may succeed, and then the whole European Union will have problems. The only world capable of ensuring stability in the future is a world in which Ukraine will survive, and Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity will be preserved. It was not visible for the first few months, but these sanctions packages are beginning to strike Russia, and now the Kremlin must take them into account, so we will work on the 10th sanctions package," the Polish prime minister said. He added that he expects its approval in the coming weeks, already in February.
He also admitted that Hungary's position makes it difficult to agree on sanctions, but noted that Prime Minister Viktor Orban could block them every time, and yet he did not.
"In any case, I had to talk to Prime Minister Orban, and so far, no matter what they say about Hungary - and we are not satisfied with their position on Ukraine – he has never blocked sanctions against Russia."
Mateusz Morawiecki said he was trying to convince German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to participate more actively in helping Ukraine, and stressed that Germany bears a special responsibility.
"Germany, because of its policy of dependence on Russian gas, initially created a lot of uncertainty and instability, so now it should feel more responsible for supporting Ukraine with arms supplies, and I am trying to convince Olaf to do this as soon as possible," the head of the Polish government said.
According to him, he expects the EU countries to send several dozen tanks for Ukraine.
"We have allocated 14 Leopard tanks, and now we are waiting for Leopards from Denmark, Finland, Germany and other EU countries, we want to show an example to others in order to assemble more tanks – 60-70, potentially up to 100 very modern vehicles that are very much needed on the battlefield in Ukraine," he explained..
When asked if he fears that Russia will perceive this as an escalation of the war and resort to the use of nuclear weapons, the head of the Polish government replied: "I don't think so. Everyone should take this into account, because, of course, this option is not something incredible, but at the same time, I don't think it will happen. Even China is pretty much on our side here, it tells the Kremlin, Putin, "Don't do this, because it will mean a completely different war," so here I am a cautious optimist."
The Polish Prime Minister expressed confidence that his country is getting closer and closer to an agreement with Brussels on the issue of a National Recovery Plan, but stressed that Poland is currently coping without this money thanks to a very stable budget situation.
"We were able to raise money for projects related to the Sustainability Recovery Fund, in addition, our defense spending in relation to GDP may be the highest in NATO," he said.
Mateusz Morawiecki added that, unlike many other EU member states, fiscal spending and public debt stability are not big problems for Poland.
"This is because we have managed to correct the situation with public finances, we spend more on weapons and social spending, controlling the budget deficit," the Prime Minister explained.

WiesławFinally start thinking about your country.
The Bandera flag completely obscured the real picture of the world for you. How much money can I send to Banderland?
TomThey whined like the priests of Baal before Elisha.
You bought into the comedian's fairy tales and are compromising Poland abroad. If Ukraine has nothing to fight with, let it capitulate, and not lead us by the nose.
PimputGet busy already, political idlers, with the problems of Poland and Poles, and not just the Ukrainians of Bandera and Shukhevych.
They constantly spit in our face, and we pretend that nothing is happening.
AzetThis crazy duda takes tanks from our military units, we no longer have reserves, no one helped us in the 39th, and this Bandera Jew believes that the whole world should give them everything for free.

KlasykLet Duda and Moravetsky call for peace and an end to the bloodshed at least once!
Polska w rozsypce!A couple of losers!
Their only occupation is to persuade everyone to give weapons to Ukrainians. That's just no one is in a hurry to do it. Only the Polish government is robbing its own people and depriving the army of equipment!
Ci dwaj ze zdjęciaIt's terrible that Duda and Moravetsky are trying so hard to flood Ukraine with weapons, which means they want as many people as possible to die!

Do PolakówI watched the speech of these two gentlemen in Davos.
Such humiliation of Poland and Poles has never happened before. Who the fuck are you?! Who do you represent?! How can you make such assholes out of yourself? There will never be any more "Law and Justice".
GggThe behavior of these gentlemen suggests that one may be a descendant of Bandera, and the second is a Ukrainian Jew.
All you can hear is: Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine. Polish interests are in the farthest for them.

They have been plundering their country for 30 years, and now I, citizens of "Law and Justice"? I would have lived to see the election.

The EU is slapping us in the face, imposing sanctions, blackmailing, training, and this couple of "statesmen" does not notice this and is raving about tanks.

So do we have the equipment or is it still only in the plans? Will we have fuel for these tanks? And we will have someone to fix them?

KadwaI don't understand why "the situation is getting complicated."
I have been reading on this portal for a year about the successes of the Ukrainian army and the huge losses of Russia. So where does the "difficult situation" come from?
