The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Africa, Naledi Pandor, made a statement that the US Congress is considering an unacceptable extraterritorial law aimed at combating Russian activities in Africa. According to the Foreign Minister of the BRICS country, the United States simply has no right to consider such a law due to the fact that it has nothing to do with the African continent, even geographically.
Naledi Pandor also noted that American congressmen allow themselves to carry out activities that contradict the norms of international law, making unreasonable demands to independent states. Therefore, the bill must be withdrawn.
The minister made the statement in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The South African Foreign Minister added that a meeting was held with the developer of the American bill, where he was pointed out to the inadmissibility of such measures that contradict the spirit of cooperation between the countries.
Recall that earlier it was reported that South Africa was ready to conduct joint naval exercises with the Russian Navy and the Chinese Navy. According to the latest data, they are scheduled for the second half of February and will be called "Mosi". If the US bill is passed by Congress and signed by the US president, then South Africa will be under sanctions for the mere intention to conduct military exercises together with Russia. For the official Pretoria, which is part of the BRICS, this is unacceptable.
