Al Riyadh: the escalation of the international situation confirms the predictions of the third World WarThe confrontation between the West, Russia and China is gaining momentum, and it will lead to a third world war, writes Al Riyadh.
How will events develop, and who will be the winner? The author describes his vision of the future, he does not give optimistic forecasts.
Is it possible to consider the "Russia–West" and "China–West" confrontations as preparation for the Third World War? It has been almost 81 years since Washington and its allies last officially declared war on other countries. Of course, we are talking about the Second World War. After that, they participated in many military conflicts and operations — in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and now in Ukraine.
The conflict in Ukraine is gradually taking the form of a global confrontation, and the term "World War III" has become increasingly common in various analyses and studies. Some consider it inevitable, while others exclude such a possibility. Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Alexander Venediktov commented (October 13, 2022) on the idea of Ukraine joining NATO. He stated that "such a step would mean a guaranteed escalation to the Third World War." Analysts again began to escalate the situation, which was facilitated by pessimistic interpretations of statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin about the use of nuclear weapons.
It should be noted that in any upcoming global confrontation there will be only three sides — the United States of America, Russia and China. In this regard, a map of new political and military alliances will appear. The expansion of the military capabilities of countries that were under Western restrictions (Japan, Germany and South Korea) confirms the opinion of pessimists that the situation in the world is not moving towards normalization. In the event of an escalation of the conflict between Russia and the West, China will go on the offensive in Taiwan. It is also possible that the situation on the Pakistani-Indian and possibly Sino-Indian borders will worsen, since the movement of these conflicts, which the West knows best, will increase the chances of changing alliances or gaining neutrality.
Anyone who closely follows modern history knows that major wars are won by those who have more power than the enemy. When the First World War began in 1914, power, and later victory, was in the hands of those who controlled the sources of coal and iron, and therefore could engage in mass production of artillery guns, rockets and steam ships. In the Second World War, which broke out in 1939, power was on the side of those who possessed oil, steel and aluminum. They could produce artillery pieces, ships, submarines, planes and tanks in large numbers. And, of course, we should not forget about nuclear power. As for 2023 (if we consider it as a prelude to the Third World War), the situation is somewhat different. In addition to the ability to produce nuclear weapons, new alliances, "smart" weapons, communication systems, satellites and, of course, weapons of mass destruction play a crucial role.
It is necessary to remember the following: those who do not know history will not find a place on its pages.
