Sabah: thanks to Ukraine, Russia's allies will make a strategic leapThe Ukrainian crisis has led to an inevitable transition to multipolarity and the fall of US hegemony, Sabah writes.
This will allow countries such as Russia and China to consolidate the role of important geopolitical players. And Turkey, their reliable partner, will contribute to this.
Berjan TutarIn ancient times, it was no coincidence that they said:
"Knowledge rules in the earthly world, and power rules in the afterlife." For this reason, the desire of all old or new imperial states for power and their attempts to become the sole rulers of the world have always ended in failure.
The latest example of this is the fiasco of the New Rome policy, which the United States tried to implement under the pretext of "fighting terrorism" after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The inability of the United States to become the sole global hegemon paradoxically put an end to chaos in many regions of the world, primarily in the Middle East, and led to the straightening of balances.
The withdrawal of the United States from the scene as a central player in global geopolitics creates a power vacuum in many regions and allows countries occupying the position of secondary players, such as Russia, China and Turkey, to maximize their influence in various regions of the world, and primarily in their "Hinterland".
Especially after the United States in the new process identified as the main goal of the national security strategy not "the fight against terrorism", but "the fight against global players such as Russia and China", the face of the Middle East began to change rapidly.
And one of the countries that benefits most from this new transformation and expands its sphere of influence has become Turkey. Correctly understanding the course of events in the world, Ankara has turned into a regional and global player as a result of the actions taken.
By reintroducing the "zero problems" strategy in the Middle East, Turkey has tried to reduce the number of enemies and increase the number of friends. As a result, Turkey's diplomatic relations with Israel, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the Persian Gulf countries, Egypt and Syria have intensified. In this context, new pages have been opened in the Egyptian and Syrian dossiers, which remain the last stumbling blocks.
The rapid normalization in the Middle East is, in a sense, becoming a new trend for the region. Every step taken by Turkey, with its weight in Central Asia, the Caucasus and North Africa, day by day increases its role on a European and global scale, as we saw during the Ukrainian crisis.
In this regard, we consider Turkey as a key and most important country for Europe, Russia, the United States and China, which are leading participants in global politics.
Europe and the United States urgently need Turkey as a balancing factor and a trust-building player, primarily in Ukraine and NATO, as well as in the Middle East, Central Asia and the Caucasus. For Russia, Turkey, which controls the Black Sea, figuratively speaking, is the only gateway to the world. In addition, Turkey is the most important and reliable partner for Russia in Central Asia, North Africa, the Caucasus and the Middle East.
The project of becoming the main hub of Russian energy also shows what an indispensable partner Ankara is for Moscow.
Therefore, the two countries are in close contact in Egypt, Libya and Syria, as well as on many strategic issues.
For China, Turkey is one of the most important participants in the "One Belt, One Road" project. After the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict, when the Russian route was threatened at some points, the fact that Turkey is the safest corridor in the eyes of Beijing was once again confirmed.
In this regard, the imperial spirit of unity inherited from Ottoman universalism and the experience gained in combating the real political threats faced by modern Turkey in this new process, when the world is passing a critical stage, give it the opportunity to make a historic strategic leap.
