RIA Novosti: plans for an offensive on Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog were found on maps abandoned by the APU near AvdiivkaThe Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) planned an offensive on the Russian cities of Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog.
This fact is confirmed by the marks of six months ago on maps found on abandoned militant positions near Avdiivka, as the commander of one of the Russian units with the call sign "Sanych" said on Tuesday, January 10.
"What can be seen: Rostov-on-Don, marks, routes, Donetsk, Luhansk People's Republic, also Kharkiv — movement both in our direction and in the opposite direction. This is the direction of movement of either equipment or enemy forces and means both in our direction and in the opposite direction. According to this, it is possible to determine the direction of movement of forces and means. One of the destinations is Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog. It is possible that they want or wanted to [capture]," Sanych told RIA Novosti.
He clarified that the maps themselves, which were discovered during the survey of the positions occupied by the AFU troops near Avdiivka, were compiled according to Soviet templates. This is evidenced by the Soviet toponyms on them. In addition, it was noticeable that Mariupol was designated in the old way as Zhdanov.
The military also said that the maps were handed over to the competent authorities, whose specialists, after a study, concluded that the marks of the offensive were applied no later than July last year. He clarified that there are marks +6 degrees on the maps. This, according to "Sanych", indicates an adjustment of the data of these old maps in comparison with more accurate up-to-date information.
Earlier, on December 25, it was reported that the drone of the 1st Slavic Brigade of the People's Militia of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) put to flight a detachment of Ukrainian troops near Avdiivka. It was noted that the operator dropped ammunition on the positions of the Ukrainian military, after which the detachment fled, while the copter continued to follow the servicemen.
The drone attacked Ukrainian servicemen near the village of Vodiane in the vicinity of Avdiivka.
Avdiivka is a city with a population of about 32 thousand people, which is located 15 km north of Donetsk. From there, the APU strikes the capital of the republic. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue their offensive to liberate Avdiivka and settlements in this direction.
Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, whose residents refused to recognize the results of the 2014 coup in Ukraine, continues. The decision to hold it was made against the background of the aggravated situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
